How to hunt down your missing Foundations cards at the best price?

in Splinterlands2 months ago (edited)

Dear Splintertrends Community,

In addition to the development project, I'm also playing the game with my @szobipetya account. I've read that many players are excited about the Frontier mode. After completing the campaign, I also tried out this game type. It was cute, but I realized that it's not easy to win with the default card set.

This week, I decided to obtain some missing cards, and I will use Splintertrends to buy them at the best price.

Determining which cards to get

Currently, my first goal is the following:

  • Get the missing level 1 epic cards with regular foil
  • Get the missing level 1 legendary cards with regular foil
  • Upgrade each summoner to level 2

My strategy is the following:

  • If a missing epic or legendary card has the best price, I immediately buy it
  • If a rare summoner card has the best price, I buy a maximum of one card per type per day (as I need more of them)

Step 1: Check if a card you’re after has a falling (🔥) price (no login required)

In my application, a falling price means that the current price is less than or equal to the lowest price in the past 14 days

  • Visit https://splintertrends.com
  • Select the following filter:
    • Edition = Foundations
  • Select your additional filters (e.g., Foil, Rarity, Edition, Role)

For example, if you want to search regular legendary cards, set up this filter set:

At the moment, Agniavan Salamander and Mystic Scaleweaver (the most expensive regular card) have falling prices:

If you want to buy these cards, visit your favorite marketplace (I used @monstermarket) and obtain the missing pieces.

Step 2: Waiting for a better price using the Watchlist feature (login required)

If the card you want isn’t at a good price right now, you can use the site's Watchlist feature. You’ll get notified when the price drops (🔥) or hits your target value.

You can read about this feature HERE

Steps to create a watchlist notification:

  • Log in with HIVE Keychain
  • Search for the card you're after (e.g. Mystic Scaleweaver)
  • Click on the heart icon:

  • Click on the Create button:

  • Select the following options, then click on the Save button:
    • Type = Discount
    • Price type = Sale
    • Outlier notification = ON

image.png

  • And that's all. You can create 10 free watchlist item notifications + 1 for each owned $TRENDZ token (details HERE)

Follow up your watchlist items

From this point, you have two options:

  • Checking the status of your watchlist items by clicking the My watchlist menu item (less comfortable):

  • Or get Discord notifications (really comfortable, for the configuration, click HERE)

Final words

I hope this article helps you make a better decision when buying Splinterlands cards.

this is a actually pretty handy to know. Still a bunch of frontier cards I need. Thanks

Good luck. I have a long way to go before I can get those cards. At the moment the meta seems to be primarily Death with only a little wiggle room .....but I'm a noob - what do I know :D

Keep it up! I chose the easier (but more expensive) way. Since I got Mystic Scaleweaver, I use primarily Water and crush easily Death, because of the Slow + 3 magic attack.

Yep I can see how she would make a great difference to magic. She's a legendary though so it will be a long time before the majority of gamers will have it and the meta changes.

Thanks for sharing! - @mango-juice

I like these new features, definitely helps the user to focusing on the cards he looking for.
