Hello there Splinterlands community!
As we all know, a new season has just began on splinterlands and so the new changes have kicked in. When I heard that the splilnterlands game would be changing, I knew that I had to get into the action as fast as possible. I read an article that explained all the changes that would take place. Learning that I would get 3000 credits back for buying a Summoner's SpellBook had me really excited. So a few days ago, I finally bought my very own Summoner's SpellBook and had my account upgraded.

The Summoner's SpellBook is $10 but since I got 3000 credits back at $1 per 1000 credits, it means that I spent $7 for the SpellBook. Pretty Neat.
I was hoping to make it to Bronze II before the new season kicked off but I couldn't because I needed more power. Although I have some money that I can use to purchase cards, I'm just really confused at what cards to get. So to avoid bad decisions, I decided to let the season end so I could have more time to consider a lot of cards and know the ones to get.
Before the last season ended though, I wanted to finish a Quest before they were changed to Daily Focus. Four hours before the season ended I was able to do just that and open my first chest.

9 credits isn't much but it's ok for a start. I wasn't disappointed but I also didn't know I was in for a surprise. After the season ended, I got to open 5 chests because my highest league attained was Bronze III. Below is what I got from the chests.

Among the rewards, I got a Venator Kinjo which is a Legendary Card worth about $13 as of writing. I heard that you have to be very lucky to get a legendary card from a chest. I think the chances of that for Bronze III is 0.2% (I may be wrong). So yeah I'm really happy with what I got.

I really don't know what to do with this card just yet. I have tried to use it in some battles but I haven't come up with a good enough strategy. With it's reflection shield, it would be a good monster to place in the second position with a taunt monster in the first. It would also be able to escape opportunity monsters with is camouflage. I just haven't been able to perfect a strategy with this monster yet. Since I'm not using it that much it won't just sit there, rather I think I'll rent it out. Let's see what this bad boy goes for.

From the pictures above, I can see that this card goes for about 168 DEC per day at level one. For a total noob like me, this is really great especially with the fact that I just have 0.002 DEC😅. I guess this would be the beginning of my renting journey here on Splinterlands!

The New Season
The new season comes with a few changes. For one, we get to complete a Daily Focus instead of Quests. My first focus was Fire and I have already completed it. Here's what I got from the Chest;

Getting all these cards is important to me because I can't earn with starter cards as a newbie like it used to be. Well, there's no need crying about that. I need to get cards but I don't know if I should get them individually or in packs.
I have some ideas on what to do. I recently just learned that the Dragon Summoners could claim any element so I guess that going for a dragon summoner would make sense in the beginning. For monsters, I might go ahead and get a couple of neutral cards so I can play them with any elements. If I make a budget and try to form a good strategy with the Dragon and Neutrals, I might get some really cool cards. That way I can still use my cards to complete the Daily Focus challenges and also earn DEC rewards.
Playing with starter cards is getting boring especially if my opponent has some awesome gold foil epic or legendary cards that I can't match. When I begin to buy cards, I don't think I'll go for the Starter cards immediately. With a budget of about $300, I should be able to get some really good cards that would play really well and also rent at good rates when I'm not using them. When I eventually have some cards that I really like, I'll probably buy more of them and level up.
I also think it would be a good idea to buy a few Chaos Legion Packs from the shop. I might get some pretty neat cards and also increase my chances of getting a new card in the airdrops. I may purchase packs once or twice a month with HBD I receive from posts in the splinterlands community. Otherwise, I'll use the HBD to buy more cards for my collection.
I'm still a total newbie on Splinterlands. I have gained some experience in the past weeks and I'm sure I still have a lot to learn. The plans I have right now may change as I learn, grow and adapt in this space so expect to hear from me often.
