Introduction

When I saw that this week's challenge was Animated Corpse, I rushed to the rental market to secure a golden copy. I had already rented this card at level 4 and I remember that it is extremely useful for several reasons.

So, in this post I'm going to show you not just one or two battles, but three victories that I secured today thanks to Animated Corpse.

I emphasize that these were not my only victories today with this card, I was in doubt between five different matches, which in itself says a lot about the diversity of situations that Animated Corpse is useful for.

So I divide this post into three parts, each referring to one of the battles. In all of them I expected to find a team with a predominance of magic damage, so I chose to play the Animated Corpse allied with Owster Rotwell, creating a Void + Magic Reflect combo.

First battle

In this match the ruleset didn't allow ranged damage cards, so the probability of my opponent, @acejannnn, using magic was high. That's why I chose this team. I hoped the Animated Corpse, backed by the extra health given by Shadowy Presence, would hold up enough for my two magical monsters (Cthulhu and Ancient Lich) to decimate the enemy team.

It would have been an easy victory if my opponent hadn't played the summoner Mimosa Nightshade, which greatly decreased my summoner's magic reflect power. But even so Animated Corpse's Void played a crucial role in the match, as it allowed the monster to stay alive throughout the first turn and part of the second.

After repeated exchanges of magic attacks, we narrowly won, leaving only 1 life on my last damage-dealing monster. If I had placed in the first position any other card that didn't hold as much magic damage, it would be a sure defeat.

Second battle

Again, this game's rule benefited monsters dealing magic damage, as they could crash under armor. Also, only 14 mana points were available. I find Animated Corpse extremely powerful in these situations.

In the back line, I put Shadowy Presence again alongside Venari Bonesmith, Undead Priest and a chicken. The idea was similar to the first battle: reflect as much magic damage as possible and buy time. My opponent, @master-syrel, summoned what I wanted most and made this match very predictable. Animated Corpse combined with Magic Reflect quickly eliminated all magic damage dealers and wiped out the enemy's chances.

Third battle

In this battle, the situation was quite different from the previous ones. I didn't know what my opponent, @kingofkakashi, would play, but one of the rules was Little League, which greatly favored the choice of putting Animated Corpse on, as characters of four mana or less usually don't have much life.

The decision to place the Animated Corpse in second place proved to be the right one, as the Giant Scorpion's Thorns allowed the first two enemy monsters to be eliminated quickly. Even with the low amount of magic attack on the enemy team, Animated Corpse's seven hit points were enough for Venari Bonesmith and Undead Priest to stay safe throughout the battle, dealing consistent damage that allowed a disputed victory.

Primeira batalha
