Rushed thoughts from a desk | It was beach day!

in Cervantes3 years ago (edited)

Now, I won't lie to you, my girlfriend was posting something on her account and I left mine open, and since she's just a Hive newbie and still has got a lot to learn, she actually posted her own content on my blog, so now I have to post this on some sort of a rush. But hey, at least I had the pictures ready and I was able to upload them a couple of minutes after the publish button on Peakd was hit.

I had this post prepared for some day of this week, the pics are here and all, but I was still thinking of the text and how should I spin the story so it wouldn't be just a beach day post with no real meaning but just uploading pics of a chill day on the beach a few weeks ago.

The best part of this beach in Merida, Yucatan called Sisal, is that when it's not high season (which is only around two months during the summer), the beach is pretty much empty. It's a long way from the city of Merida and you can't

I actually don't like to post so often because I don't like to put my autovoters on a strain, and I just posted like 4 times over the last 2 days so, sorry for the pain in the ass guys.

Anyway, here's a short beach gallery for your delight.

Sort:

We never made it to Sisal but it looks really nice. I mean the color of the sea is almost like on the other side of Yucatan (Riviera Maya). Seems more inviting than the nearby Progreso beaches...

Btw good to know your girlfriend is here on Hive too. What´s her username?

@tipu curate

To be honest I like the caribbean nature side and beachside more, but they are very close between Yucatan (Merida, el Cuyo and others) and Quintana Roo (Tulum, Bacalar, Playa del Carmen etc) but the thing that kills it for me is the people. The people in Merida and 1000x times more pleasant, warm and respectful. Plus no cartels.

Thanks for the Tipu man, I appreciate it. I'll give you her username in a bit

Yeah, I have the same feeling. The eastern coast is more beautiful in terms of the sea and beaches but I don´t really like the behavior of the locals there. My friend once said: "It feels like they want you to pay for breathing the air here." Quite aptly I think. Plus these days, there is a huge increase in all kinds of scams not just by the ordinary folks but also the police. In PDC, police would stop random tourists right on La Quinta, make up some excuse for a body search (usually drugs) and when doing so, they steal anything valuable (money, cameras, jewelry etc.) from the confused unsuspecting person. More and more reports of these scams have been showing up all over the Riviera. Pathetic. And yeah, there is a spike in the cartel violence too. Especially Tulum. 65 murders in this little town just between January and September this year... Crazy. I don´t know why Merida is such a safe haven but it obviously is... You picked a very good place as your new home.

Hombre Eric, viejo amigo.

A hour ago my wife was telling me that she feels like visiting a beach when I go there 😀 - seems I am feeling the same after seeing this.

Beach time is always appreciate it, especially for me that I live like 5 hours away from the closest one haha. You are from India right? How close is a beach from where you live?

The famous Puri beach - 60 kms - a one hour drive.

Nice! Not so far, sounds like this weekend you have to please your lady and take her to the beach :D
