La tarde de ayer me encontraba visitando a mi padre y entre conversaciones y recuerdos salió el tema de las reliquias que tenemos en la familia, algunas de ellas no solo por el valor monetario sino por el valor sentimental; es por ello que él me dio el permiso de fotografiar y me contó sobre estas reliquias.
Yesterday afternoon I was visiting my father and between conversations and memories the subject of the relics that we have in the family came up, some of them not only for their monetary value but for their sentimental value; That is why he gave me permission to photograph and told me about these relics.
Primeramente quiero mostrarles el baúl que perteneció a mi abuela materna, que tiene aproximadamente 120 años, este ha pasado de generación en generación y luego de la muerte de mi madre quedo en casa y mi padre lo cuida con mucho cariño; este se mantiene casi en su estado original, nunca ha sido pintado permanece con su pintura de fabricación, solo se le cambio la cerradura original ya que esta se dañó.
First of all I want to show you the trunk that belonged to my maternal grandmother, who is approximately 120 years old, it has passed from generation to generation and after my mother's death I stay at home and my father takes care of it with great affection; This remains almost in its original state, it has never been painted, it remains with its manufacturing paint, only the original lock was changed since it was damaged.

Zarcillos de Oro Blanco, que pertenecieron a mi madre desde la infancia temprana, se los regalo su madre en vida. Desde su muerte hace 29 años mi padre decidió guardarlos en este baúl, hasta la fecha no se los ha heredado a nadie y no ha permitido su uso a ninguna de mis hermanas por temor a que se extravíen o se los puedan robar; para todos nosotros este es uno de los pocos recuerdos físicos que tenemos de mi madre, porque ni siquiera fotos de momentos poseemos sino solo la de su cédula. Yo particularmente siempre recuerdo a mi madre con sus zarcillos puestos, nunca se los quitaba.
White Gold Earrings, which belonged to my mother from early childhood, were given to her by her mother while she was alive. Since his death 29 years ago my father decided to keep them in this trunk, to date he has not inherited them to anyone and has not allowed their use to any of my sisters for fear that they might be lost or stolen; For all of us, this is one of the few physical memories we have of my mother, because we don't even have photos of moments, but only her identity card. I particularly always remember my mother with her earrings on, she never took them off.
Taza de cerámica; que tiene 62 años con mi padre esta forma parte de un juego de tazas que recibieron como regalos de bodas de su suegra (mi abuela materna); posee un estampado muy particular para la época. En la familia la hemos cuidado, siendo esta la única pieza que queda; al momento de nuestra mudanza del campo para Carora mi padre fue muy celoso con la misma y nos encargó que no se la fuésemos a partir.
Ceramic mug; who is 62 years old with my father, this is part of a set of cups that they received as wedding gifts from their mother-in-law (my maternal grandmother); It has a very particular pattern for the time. In the family we have taken care of it, this being the only piece that remains; At the time of our move from the countryside to Carora, my father was very jealous of it and asked us not to leave it for him.
Moneda de Plata de 5 Bolívares (Fuerte); ya que data del año 1.919 cuando la actual República Bolivariana de Venezuela tenía como nombre Estados Unidos de Venezuela, en ella podemos observar que eta fabricada con plata Lei 900 y su peso es de 25 gramos. Mi padre me cuenta que anteriormente este tipo de moneda era la que poseía mayor valor comercial y con ella se podrían comprar muchas cosas, para su época eran muy común las monedas de platas, posteriormente fueron creados los billetes y las monedas de níquel, quedando estas para colección. En la actualidad el valor de esta oscila entre 20$ y 60$ dependiendo del coleccionista y las condiciones en que se encuentre.
Silver Coin of 5 Bolívares (Strong); Since it dates from the year 1919 when the current Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela had the United States of Venezuela as its name, in it we can see that it is made with Lei 900 silver and its weight is 25 grams. Moneda de Plata de 10 Bolívares (Doblón); esta moneda se encuentra en la categoría de monedas conmemorativas ya que se fabricaron el año 1.973 con motivo de la celebración del Centenario del Natalicio del Libertador Simón Bolívar, se le llamo Doblón porque duplicaba el valor de la moneda de 5 Bolívares “Fuerte” (que era la de mayor valor comercial para ese entonces). Esta moneda no fue de curso legal solo se fabricó para coleccionar, se estima que se acuñaron dos millones de piezas. Esta pieza llego a las manos de mi padre porque la compro a un hijo de una señora que falleció en mi pueblo.
Silver Coin of 10 Bolívares (Doubloon); This coin is in the category of commemorative coins since they were manufactured in 1973 on the occasion of the celebration of the Centennial of the Birth of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, it was called Doblon because it doubled the value of the 5 Bolívares “Fuerte” coin (which it was the one with the highest commercial value at that time). This coin was not legal tender, it was only made to collect, it is estimated that two million pieces were minted. This piece came into the hands of my father because I bought it from a son of a woman who died in my town.
Por último y no menos importante, está la mayor reliquia que poseemos en la familia, ese es mi padre quien como les conté en mi presentación ha sido para mí y para mis hermanos el pilar de nuestra familia, luego de la muerte de mi madre nos volvimos más unidos con él; hoy en día tiene 85 años de edad y la única enfermedad que posee es la ceguera total por el glaucoma aún esta lucido de mente y es grato sentarse a conversar con él ya que tiene sus recuerdos muy claros.
Last but not least, there is the greatest relic that we have in the family, that is my father who, as I told you in my presentation, has been for me and for my brothers the pillar of our family, after the death of my mother we we came back more united with him; Today he is 85 years old and the only disease he has is total blindness due to glaucoma. He is still clear-minded and it is pleasant to sit down and talk with him since he has very clear memories.
