No conocía de la existencia de esta variedad de tomates, cuando los vi hace un par de años atrás. Claramente me llamó la atención de su color marrón oscuro (casi negro). Por esta razón decidí fotografiarlos, tanto en el supermercado como en casa.

I did not know about this variety of tomatoes until few years ago. Clearly they captured my attention for its unusual dark color. For this reason I decided to take some photos of them at the supermarket and at home.
De acuerdo con Wikipedia, este variedad fue desarrollada en España y existe una polémica si es una planta genéticamente modificada.

Tomar fotos de una fruta con una piel que refleja tanto la luz, no es fácil principalmente en un ambiente como el supermercado donde hay una iluminación vertical y de luz blanca.
Taking photos of this fruit, whose skin reflects so much the light, is not easy in an environment like a supermarket where the illumination comes from above and it is white light.
Aquí pueden comparar el color con los tomates regulares. En relación a su sabor puedo decir que es muy parecido al tomate común, me imagino que su uso se debe mas a razones de orden estético, para las ensaladas.
In this photo you can compare the color with the regular tomatoes. About its taste, it is almost the same as the common tomate. I suppose that its usage it is mainly for aesthetic reasons in the salads.
