Saturday Memories - Nymphenburg Palace and Park, Munich

Our memories take us back to the year 2018, that summer and a that two-month long mini trip. Two weeks ago I talked about a French town, Mulhouse, as part of our route and where we spent just one day. We crossed the river Rhin and were already in Germany. We drove north, to the city of Karlsruhe and from there towards Pforzheim and Stuttgart. Our next stop had to be one small town north from Stuttgart, to half-surprise some relatives with our presence. We wanted to call them and say that we are coming in a few days. But even though we called them, they didn't answer the phone, and since they are elderly people, they don't use email or other forms of social networks, or any message applications. So we could not reach them, there were not at home, clearly. Later, after two weeks we talked and found out that the reason we could not reach them was that they went to Italy for a trip. So, we adjusted our route and continued to the next stop, Munich.

In Munich (Germany) we stayed 5 days with a friend of ours. Those days were great, we enjoyed our staying a lot! In this post, for #SaturdayMemories, an initiative by @olga.maslievich, we are going to visit Nymphenburg Palace.

That morning our friend had to work, so we went alone without his guidance there. Anyway, he lives nearby, we just had to follow that small river and in about twenty minutes of walking, we reached the palace.

Before we entered the palace, next to the parking lot, there was a lake with a fountain and many swans and
geese. I didn't really want to approach them, so I only watched them from afar.

It was a warm July day, and although the mornings and evenings in Germany were much colder than we were used to in Spain, the noon was warm. Too hot for a tour, although many tourists, like us, thought it was a perfect day to visit the place.

The original design of the park was like a baroque Italian garden, but it was changed and modelled to examples of French gardens (like Versailles). Finally, in 1799 Friedrich Ludwig Sckell redesigned it to English style.

From the terrace of the palace, the view extends along the entire park, and there we tried to find some refreshment in the shade. We really enjoyed that visit and the tourists around us too. Unfortunately, I can't find pictures from inside the palace, nor what we took on that balcony.

Saying goodbye to the statues that accompanied our walk in the park, we decided to go back to the apartment of our friend. He lives in a very nice part of the city, it is calm and beautiful, I wanted to stay there, let's say forever hahaha. In the next few days, we visited the city centre and other sights of the city, but we will see that in one of the next #SaturdayMemories posts about Munich and our trip that summer of 2018.

This was just the first day, there will be more in the future, I don't know if this Saturday or the next one when we can follow the story of the days spent in Munich before we headed to Viena.

I hope dear Olga, you can one day make the travel to the places you want to visit 🤗💕

Great, thank you 😇

Nymphenburg Palace and the park is my favourite spot in Munich. On a lovely summer, 5 years ago, I've seen some fireflies in the garden, which are becoming so rare due to pollution. Hope you had a lovely stay in here.

I've seen some fireflies in the garden

That must be a nice experience, and if combined with music, oh, would be perfect. We saw there were some concerts (or at least I saw the posters for classical music events, but maybe not in this Palace).

Our stay in Munich was so lovely. I wish that we can visit it again, if we make again a similar tour. I tried Radler even if I never drink beer, but to complete the experience :D But radler would be like a juice in comparison to other stronger types of beer.

I plan to do another post in one or two weeks from here, from the city centre and English garden, and random things from Munich, the problem is I only found the photos from the phone, that are not of the best quality...
Thank you so much for stopping by :)
