With solar array C online and producing excess power, I figured it would be good to put all that extra energy to use during peak periods of sunny days. My solar panels can produce up to around 7000 watts of power, so between the battery bank and the solar panels. I can run both miners during the day time.
This was my first build, looks nice. Though the suction of those two 8 inch fans caused the whole tent to bulge inwards. So I ended up ducting the intakes outside the tent.
First I needed to assemble the grow tent, placing the miners inside of the tent will help to keep them clean and using filters pulling air in will also keep the interior of the miners clean as well.
With the tent built I place milk crates the miners will sit on inside.
Its all pretty clean now, hopefully it will stay that way.
The first time I built this out I ran the exhaust fans out of the top vents of the tent. Though later on I moved them to the lower vents and then added the intakes at the top vents.
All of the miners and fans are controlled by 240V and 120V IOT smart switches. I can control them remotely.
Even my UTV got a smart switch. So I can stop and start charging it remotely.
The Sonoff brand has been great for 120V IOT products.
In the above app I can turn on and off the miners.
And in this app above I can control the fans and my UTV charger.
When I rerouted the intake up to the top vents on the tent. I realized the filter was not staying on so well. Leaving little gaps for dirty dusty air to get through.
So I had an idea, something I have used on my grow tent fans on my cannabis grows. Pantyhose, should work for awhile until I can buy a proper filter sock that fits.
Hah works!
I ride over to check on the setup mid way through testing, all is working well. I love riding my electric dirt bike over to check on my solar operated miners.
There it is, just in the corner growing Bitcoins... lol
In the above read out we can see one miner running at the time. I have successfully ran both mid day on clear days. Though on cloudy days I may need suspend mining operations or just run one.
On sunny days the routine goes something like this.
6am till 10:30am charging up battery bank.
10:30am turn on Miner A once I am pulling in around 3kw of PV.
12pm turn on Miner B as I approach max solar production for the day.
4pm turn off Miner A as PV production drops.
5pm turn off miner B and charge up battery bank from any excess used during mining operations with remaining sunlight. Goal is to bring the SOC above 75% before nightfall.
8pm running off batteries with minimal equipment until 6am.
Cloudy and rainy days all of that changes, as solar power production is decreased. There is no grid power with array-C so it is whatever I can produce and store.
