With solar array C online and producing excess power, I figured it would be good to put all that extra energy to use during peak periods of sunny days. My solar panels can produce up to around 7000 watts of power, so between the battery bank and the solar panels. I can run both miners during the day time.

This was my first build, looks nice. Though the suction of those two 8 inch fans caused the whole tent to bulge inwards. So I ended up ducting the intakes outside the tent.

First I needed to assemble the grow tent, placing the miners inside of the tent will help to keep them clean and using filters pulling air in will also keep the interior of the miners clean as well.

With the tent built I place milk crates the miners will sit on inside.

Its all pretty clean now, hopefully it will stay that way.

The first time I built this out I ran the exhaust fans out of the top vents of the tent. Though later on I moved them to the lower vents and then added the intakes at the top vents.

All of the miners and fans are controlled by 240V and 120V IOT smart switches. I can control them remotely.

Even my UTV got a smart switch. So I can stop and start charging it remotely.

The Sonoff brand has been great for 120V IOT products.

In the above app I can turn on and off the miners.

And in this app above I can control the fans and my UTV charger.

When I rerouted the intake up to the top vents on the tent. I realized the filter was not staying on so well. Leaving little gaps for dirty dusty air to get through.

So I had an idea, something I have used on my grow tent fans on my cannabis grows. Pantyhose, should work for awhile until I can buy a proper filter sock that fits.

Hah works!

I ride over to check on the setup mid way through testing, all is working well. I love riding my electric dirt bike over to check on my solar operated miners.

There it is, just in the corner growing Bitcoins... lol

In the above read out we can see one miner running at the time. I have successfully ran both mid day on clear days. Though on cloudy days I may need suspend mining operations or just run one.
On sunny days the routine goes something like this.
6am till 10:30am charging up battery bank.
10:30am turn on Miner A once I am pulling in around 3kw of PV.
12pm turn on Miner B as I approach max solar production for the day.
4pm turn off Miner A as PV production drops.
5pm turn off miner B and charge up battery bank from any excess used during mining operations with remaining sunlight. Goal is to bring the SOC above 75% before nightfall.
8pm running off batteries with minimal equipment until 6am.
Cloudy and rainy days all of that changes, as solar power production is decreased. There is no grid power with array-C so it is whatever I can produce and store.

Nice setup! What a great way to mine those Satoshi's! Very clever way to keep the miners clean, and keep them running longer. Hopefully this winter will give you a lot of clear days to keep those miners running. Great job!
Yeah I think the filters and grow tent should help with that.
Curious during the winter if I will be able to run both miners... I guess we shall see.
thanks!
Not thats using your head - great job my good man!!! Why pay for the power you use, when you can harness it for free, sort of (initial outlay of course), but that aside, I'm sure it will be paying for itself in short order!!
Thanks man, yeah using this setup on solar makes sense.
Hopefully in a few years, or maybe shorter if the price increases.
Have no fears - its only going to go up from here....
Well congrats on the setup!
Hopefully it turns out to be one of those examples which many people usually tells. Like I used to mine BTC around 2011-15 era. I hope you get to talk about your current setup like those OG's some day in the upcoming future ;)
Also do let us know, how it turns out to be in a month or so!
Ah thanks, exactly.. you never know when the next big boom will be. So time will tell how it all plays out. Okay cool.. will do.
Woahhh, that's a good setup you did. I never knew anyone could actually mine crypto.... Humm, this is interesting, and I'm sure a lot of money went into this setup...... we are definitely far behind in technology and exposure.
Thanks for the breakdown, even if I don't understand a lot. I love your electric bike.
Its probably not for everyone, but since using solar power it makes sense to use the left over power I would think.
Ah thanks.. its a great bike.
Woao that's incredible.
Great idea my friends.
Thanks much
Hi my friend,
Have you ever considered making a cabinet for your Bitcoin miners using an aluminum alloy frame and glass (or acrylic panels)?
I think that would make everything look more organized, and you could easily see the miners’ operating status directly.
Just a personal suggestion, for your reference.
Hey there,
Yeah I could do that, but I wanted to make use of my old grow tent. I replaced it with a bigger one so I had it laying around. Indeed it would look much nicer if done with some other hardware.
thanks for the tip
Got it.
Reusing an old grow tent is definitely a cost-effective and eco-friendly approach — it doesn’t add any new expenses and gives old equipment a second life.
Very dope post, nice setup. Thanks for breaking it down into easy to digest steps. Cheers mate, hope you are doing well out there.
Much appreciated. Glad to share what is going on here on the farm.
Congratulations @solominer! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain And have been rewarded with New badge(s)

STOPAre your miners profitable in this setup? I do realize that this is a long term play. But it required solar panels, batteries and miners...
Indeed. Zero energy cost.
As for the solar equipment it was required for our garlic operation. So I'm just using what I already have.
Wao great idea...
I never saw solar mining machines like this..
Wonderful idea brother.
It's all quite cool
Don't forget me when you become rich and famous, @solominer !!!

Come get MOONed!
i use Sonoff
here in my domotica with Home assistant keeping track of temps and humidity in and outside the house :)
you should be able to script the whole thing so that i will run fully automatic based on solar power and weather forecast
Nice, yeah I like their product so far. Works well and pretty heavy duty they can handle charging my UTV.
Ah true I can probably do that. Will need to work on that at some point.
Thats one wild setup!
Thanks, its been quite the work in progress.
That's a nice idea of your solar, also your electric bike is so cool to me.🤩
Thanks yeah making good use of it all.
Hehe its a great bike. I love it.
I'll have to keep that brand in mind for when I want to upgrade the IoT stuff at my house. I had been buying the Feit brand or whatever it was, but I am not committed to them.
Oh nice, I have not used Fiet but as long as they are compatible with Home assistant I am okay with them.. looks like they are.
This looks very interesting. I've never seen bitcoin mining before. How many bitcoins do they produce per year? Please excuse my ignorance 😅
Thanks much, its hard to say. But probably a few thousand dollars a year.
That's not bad, we can count that as an alternative income source :)
Shit man what an awesome lifestyle! To be living off grid and leveraging the latest blockchain mining technology while planting fields of garlic and so much more!
Seriously living the dream and I love following this adventure!
Hah yeah dude lots going on here. Farming crypto and garlic lol
Glad I have a great community to share it all in on Hive. Thanks for joining me in the adventure.
interesting project friend
thanks much
Nice set up my friend!👍😊
Are you running 240 inverters?
How low do you allow your SOC to drop by morning?
Him being is the USA - they are 120v.... I don't see him using 240.....
I was wondering that myself!🤔
I had 4.2 kW on four different arrays running 120 V inverters!😄
Thanks! Yes my Solark 15k inverters provide both 240v and 120v.
The Bitcoin miners need 240v but the fans need 120v.
My goal is not to exceed 55% DoD so around 45 percent is as low as I like to the SOC to go.
You must be running a power wall, with lithium batteries!👍😊
Unfortunately, I am still old school lead acid batteries. I cannot drop my state of charge that low…..
Most ASIC minor required 240v unfortunately.
I was running three ant miner Z9 minis 120 V until the price dropped…🙄
Oh cool. I ran lead acid batteries for previous projects.. mostly 12/24v stuff. But now I only work with the 48V banks.
48 V is definitely the best my friend!👍😀
Unfortunately, my two 120 V inverters are set up for 24 V😇😎
What are you fertilizing your bitcoin grow with :) ?
lol love that movie... growing bitcoins from the rays of the sun.
