In this article series, I will feature coins that depict the four cardinal virtues starting with the cardinal virtue of prudence.

The reverse of the coin shows the figure of Prudence (Latin: Prudentia). Prudence holds a serpent signifying self-control and the ability to judge between actions appropriate to the situation presenting itself at any given time.
A virtue is a habitual disposition to do good. Among all the virtues, there are four that play a pivotal role and accordingly are called cardinal.
- Prudence, which disposes the practical reason to discern in every circumstance one's true good and to choose the right means of achieving it.
- Justice, which consists in the firm and constant will to give others their due.
- Fortitude, which ensures firmness in difficulties and constancy in the pursuit of the good.
- Temperance, which moderates the attraction of the pleasures of the senses and provide balance in the use of created foods.

I wish I had the resources to collect the Papal coins. I guess I will continue to pick them up, and perhaps in 10 years I would have some of the older ones. I thought that this is an appropriate series to show every World Coin Wednesday... coins from The Papal Mint.

These coins are special! The Papal coins are interesting. The reverse designs all coins have significance and many refer to historical events in Christianity and the values that Christians believe and follow. Because of this, and for me specifically, the design of these coins have more personal significance than any other coins of any series. I hope that you will enjoy this series.

I couldn't help thinking of the song "Dear Prudence" not the Beatles but Siouxsie and the Banshees version.
Nothing to do with the virtue as I do admire the practice of proper manners as like the Victorian and Edwardian gentry practiced rather than the crude public shouting matches we have now a days.
Feels like I was born in the wrong era.
