RE: A Seaworthy gift from Silversaver888: Black Flag Series 2020, The Royal Fortune

in Silver Gold Stackers4 years ago (edited)

Captain Bart surely is consistent... 4 ships renamed Fortune. Which Royal Fortune is depicted on the coin? Is it the 26 Gun French frigate or the Royal Navy Frigate Onslow? I suppose it was the last one. But isn't it true.. the greater the guns (and the gold in cargo), the richer the ships? [Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge had a whopping FORTY cannons!] So I looked up Moidore, and there are still some available in brass. I read about Captain Roberts (Black Bart)and I love how you are able to create almost true to life conversation lines between him and his men after the daring and successful pirate raids, grabbing the 40,000 gold moidores from Brazil. He was a legend among pirates! As always sis, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your article. Your articles are always special!
Do you think that after the Black Flag series, Perth Mint will have another ship coin or two with the Red Flag (Bloody Red)?
It is I who is grateful for your generosity of sending me the 2019 Black Flag Queen Anne's Revenge, sis @kerrislravenhill! It was one of my regrets for not getting that coin when it first came out, and as always, you were sensitive to my secret longing for that coin. So THANK YOU, sis. I am grateful for that gesture of yours that make you more endearing to me. Have a beautiful day, my love sis @kerrislravenhill! Take care 🥰🌺🤙, lots of love and a million and one Hugs and Kisses 🤗💕💋!!

With some guys, the bigger, the better. But in reality a huge ship like a 'Ship of the Line' First rate 100 guns etc. are slow to navigate and maneuver, requires a lot of resources and a very large well trained crew to operate the complex rigging system. Pirate captains prefer with good speed over projecting power and let their reputation project that power. If Roberts decided to take a Big Man of War, the lack of skilled crew unfamiliar with the ship will be a big liability, then the Portuguese escorts and then the remaining Man of war will eventually over take the fleeing ship.

I thought this event of Santos Bay was significant in cementing the loyalty of his crew, and the ire of the Kingdom of Portugal. Couldn't find more definitive documentation of the actual raid but I kept the facts and fictionalize the event. The Loss of Captain Davis was still fresh on the crew, Roberts is relatively a newly elected Captain largely on his Navigational skills. I can imagine the politics that could exist among a crew of Pirates was like. There so much about this man including that of a Tea Tottler rather than a Rum drinker as he detested drunkeness.

Oddly enough the Pirate flag started out as RED, as in the term Jolly Roger in French, 'joli rouge' meant 'Pretty Red' before going to the Black.

And I will always value your friendship and from those last five years 🌺 💝 🌹 💓 🌸 🌼 ☠ 🦜
