Nothing is more exciting than exploring fascinating places and seeing before your eyes the wonders of mother nature through a road trip. It hits differently!. . It gives you absolute freedom to get lost in the moment.
While others have worries and anxieties about traveling to new places far away from home. There are also who love the daring adventure and count me in! You may find it funny but I love traveling and exploring more than eating. 😁 I so love going on a road trip venturing to unknown places - places I've never been.
It was a lovely summer when me and my ex-boyfriend (husband now)☺️ decided to have another daring and unforgettable adventure of ours. He knows that taking me outdoors to beautiful landscapes is my happy pill. I prefer heading for a road trip over a fine dinner at exquisite restaurants or receiving an expensive bouquet.
🏍️ Hit the road!
My smile was as bright as the day while I was packing my things for our road trip. Water-checked☑️. Food and snacks checked ☑️. Camera-checked☑️. My excited heart checked ☑️ Brooommm! We're good to go!
The destination was somewhere in the highlands of Cebu Province, along the country road of Danao City. I have not come to this place nor had an idea of what beauty of the place would reveal into our eyes!

As early as 9:00 am we left home for our road trip. We took first the National Road for about an hour and then started our adventure when we turned left and enter the local street which up til now I didn't ask for its name.
The road is concrete and good which gave us a safe and comfortable journey. Traveling this kind of road situated at the barangays going to different corners and alleys with beautiful plants and bushes on the side street is simply fulfilling for me.
The first landscape we passed that caught my attention was the group of Mahogany trees. They were standing proudly while they showcase how lush and green their leaves are. We stopped by the trees. With open arms, I stood under the trees absorbing their beauty. It just felt so good. The view only adds fuel to our excitement and eagerness.
We continued our ride excitedly with the hope of seeing another landscape on our way. We passed narrow and unwinding roads. We also passed some houses and groups of people on the streets but most of the time we passed by open fields, a farm, coconut trees, and all other trees. Sometimes the road led us to a very quiet place in which houses were nowhere to be found. Nonetheless, all these views still made me fascinated by the quiet and slow countryside life. After a lot of turns and detours, we finally reached the most beautiful spot of our road trip. The panoramic top view.

We were surprised to discover the most elevated part of the road. We stopped and cherished the beautiful scenery in front of us- the mountain rolls of Danao City and behind it is the beautiful horizon of the azure blue sky kissing the ocean. I let my eyes linger on the beauty in front of me as I take a slow and deep breath. Standing on top looking at my surroundings and the road we passed made me feel humble and grounded. Defining and refreshing moments like this made me fall in love even more with the simplicity of life. A life away from noises, distractions, and a busy-fast life. We sat there and enjoyed the view for about half an hour and then we continue our journey.
🏍️Diverged Road
While we were riding we came to a two diverged road which reminded me of Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken". We stopped and think which way to go. We couldn't decide right away. We had several What Ifs. What if one of the roads would bring us back to the road we passed by? What if one of the roads is a dead end? What if one has lesser beautiful views than the other one?
At that time we wished to take both paths. We knew that our choice will shape our road trip journey at that time. While we discussed (doing our best not to argue😁) our what-ifs and our thoughts on the diverged road we also discovered new personalities within ourselves. And this is one of the things I love on road trips: the learning and discoveries of oneself. So what did we choose? We choose the less traveled. Hehe. Hope it appeared like that but no, both roads were good and had no sign which is less traveled at all. But we choose the one on the right. ☺️
And guess what? We made a beautiful choice. As we entered a new road, not from afar, we heard the sound of crashing water. There must be a river nearby! Yeaaayyy! We followed the sound and Viola!!!
🏍️ The River
Imagine how happy we were after deep thinking and discussion of the two roads. The freshwater of this babbling river was glimmering under the heat of the sun. We stopped and went to the river and found a beautiful spot for picture taking. Hehe. Down below the river were kids happily swimming and playing. I stared at my husband and smiled. We made the right choice.☺️ A fascinating detour.
After the river scenery, we followed the road which led us to an exit of Danao City. It's time to head home after a fulfilling and unforgettable road trip. We were riding at a slow speed going home while reminiscing the beautiful landscape that we just witnessed.
On our way home we ate our baon the food that we brought with us. We stopped over at the corner.
That was one of the rejuvenating and unforgettable road trips that we had.
