I've wanted to run a contest in one of my communities for a long time and decided today is the day. The contest will be in the The outdoors & more community which focuses on the outdoors, hiking, camping, survival, four wheel drive, military, preparedness, shooting and firearms and all of the elements around it.
The entry requirements
Select something from the list below to write about
- Post about your own camping or hiking trips (good or bad experiences)
- Write about your own off-road, 4x4 or motorcycle adventures and images
- Your hiking/trekking experiences and expeditions (good or bad experiences)
- Camping or outdoor equipment reviews (own photos required)
- Your own shooting, archery, fishing or hunting experiences
- Your own on or under the water experiences (Scuba, kayaking boating etc.)
- Your off-grid/nomad lifestyle, either mobile (vehicle) or fixed-position
- Your own home-preparedness plans, life-hacks, suggestions or methods
- Your DIY/handy-person stuff based around the outdoors and equipment
- Showcase your own equipment: Firearms, knives, fishing gear, survival etc.
- Tips, techniques and instructional posts around the community topics
- Post about survival techniques, equipment and importance
- Write about edible and medicinal plants found in the wilderness
- Tell us about your homesteading and off-grid activities
- Show us your best back yard/home camping experience
- Tell us a story about camping as a child (Own pictures would be good)
- Post about safety and first aid in urban areas - The importance to society
- Write a piece on personal security and situational awareness
- What's your urban-area action plan in the case of crisis like civil unrest or war
I think you get the idea about the possible topics, there's endless ideas. Just make sure the topic fits the core-theme of the community and ask me in the comments below if you're unsure.
A few suggestions for your post
- Don't plagiarise photos or text - It won't end well for you
- Use your own photos as much as you can over stock images
- Present your post well, in-focus images and great text
- Ask me in the comments below if you want more information
The prizes - 30HBD
I'll be selecting the winners and my decision will be final of course. The three sponsors of the prizes are @meesterboom, @tarazkp and me, @galenkp and I'll be distributing the HBD between the winning posts. I will also being curating on the really good ones.
The winners will be announced in a post soon after the contest deadline and the HBD transfer will happen subsequently.
Remember, this is a contest, so take your time and bring your best effort to maximise your chance of success.

Itg's important that the content is inline with the community theme, you can use a single stock photo if you don't have you're own, just to add some visual interest although adding multiple stock photos isn't the way to go, and neither is adding no photo at all

Hey it was brought to my attention you have muted me for the Outdoors & More community. Comments are muted and not visible. No bad feelings and it’s ur right but mind if I ask why? I don’t even remember posting on this community b4. Just was wondering if there was a reason? Not looking for a argument, just honestly curious because I can’t think of why. It seems pretty extreme step full on muting me from an entire community. Just respectfully wanted to know why. I’d appreciate a removal of this.
