RE: Future people

Wow, so much attention to detail is required when holding a firearm. No wonder, so many young people end up accidentally shooting themselves.

Do people have to be trained under someone to get a firearm licence or anyone can get a licence and buy a gun after a certain age?

In my area, a lot of people have firearms, but I am sure they don't know anything about the safety or how to properly handle it. They just use them to flaunt it, especially during public events, or at public places😓

Sort:

Here anyone can apply for a firearms license provided they meet certain criteria. There is a police check and those unsuitable are denied; generally those with violence-related offences on their record. There's a short weekend course and then one gets their licensee. It's a process that can take 5-9 months. That does not qualify them for handguns like I have though. That's a whole different process again and there more stringent requirements.

People flaunting firearms...Not legit. It's people like that who give lawful and responsible firearms owners a bad name.

Lol, here, you need to be a little rich/influence, bribe the local police officer. Fill up a form that someone has threatened to kill you. And you can have any firearm of your choice(just not automatic or semiautomatic).

Usually, people have handguns, and revolvers and 12 bore guns.

generally those with violence-related offences

Usually, those who have history in violent crimes and have spent months or years in jail, often have guns here. If not in their name, in the name of someone in their family. As people live in combined families here.

Thankfully, gun related violent crimes are rare. There is only one or two event where people are shot/killed in an year.
People just love to flaunt, maybe they don't know how to shoot properly😅

Lol, thinking about that, most people who have firearms, usually practice firing up in the air, not in front.

This is the most usecase of guns. During marriages.
Anyone who feels himself gangster enough, will fire a few shots in a marriage function.

When I think about it, I may have 100's of faults, but thankfully, I didn't grew up like one of them😅

Sounds like a lot of irresponsible firearms use there; not a place I'd feel comfortable living I think.

Yepp. Laws are getting stricter, but not strict enough for responsible use.

Maybe, if we had a few firing ranges around, and better instructors, people will understand how to use them properly.

Anyway, thanks to your posts I realized the difference between irresponsible use of guns, and learning to shoot as a skill.
When I was a teenager I wanted a gun to look cool. But later started hating all the gun culture, probably because of how people used it around me.

And thanks for all the replies. I am still learning how to see the world from a proper perspective😅

I've been a shooter for over thirty years and have seen the best and worst in it and people which is why I don't compromise on safety or tolerate irresponsible behaviour when it comes to firearms...Or most things really.

You seem to be finding the right perspectives in life and are a bit of a thinker so that's to be admired. Seek to be the best version of yourself, you, or anyone else, could never ask for more.

Thanks😀
