Chill Camp at Osmeña Peak

in Outdoors and more11 months ago
Hello everyone!

It really pays to make new friends. All the photos in this post are not mine. It's from a fellow mountain enthusiast and freediver France Villamor. Of course, I posted it here with his permission. You can check his Instagram to see all his amazing photos of his escapades.

I'm the type who really lacks self-discipline. I always wanted to post more often to augment my earnings because my bills are mounting and I have an upcoming out-of-the-country trip, but here we are again. It has been 16 days since my last post and I said before that the opportunity cost for someone like me who depended on Hive for everything is too much. But I don't want to make it like I'm milking Hive, so I'll only post when I feel like it. I still want to enjoy that posting part and not make it a chore. In the end, it's always a tug-of-war in my head.

I also told myself not to travel too much so that I can save, but when someone invites me to anything, I rarely refuse. I end up spending more than I anticipated. I'm still amazed by how I was able to manage to pay all my obligations despite of these prices. Maybe because I'm unbothered by these things? I know God's timing is perfect just like His creation is perfect. Just look at the photo above! That's more than enough evidence of God's perfect creation. I know what you're thinking. I might not look like it, but I believe in God or Higher Being or Universe, whatever form you might think it may be. I just don't conform to the human construct such as religion to explain the beauty that surrounds us. Anyway, back to the camp.

When we were freediving in Moalboal last June 10-11, we met France and he invited me for a chill camp the next weekend, June 17. He said I would be occupying the last slot in the car. For some reason, I didn't decline even if I didn't know anyone in his group. I had been to Osmeña Peak before, but it was not camping. We were just there to admire the view of Cebu from its highest point.

Came Saturday, we agreed to meet at Bayfront Hotel since he's from Lapu-Lapu City. I didn't expect that I would get along with everyone, so I was expecting that I would just be quiet during the whole trip. Turned out they also don't know each other. It was France who was the common friend with everyone. I was amazed that I was able to vibe with them.

We arrived at the entrance of Osmeña Peak at around 3:00 PM. There's an entrance fee of Php 50.00 and a camping fee of Php 100.00. If you have a car, there's a parking fee of Php 40.00. We immediately hiked to the campsite after the registration because we were after the premium camping spot. It didn't take long to reach the campsite. We were not able to secure the best camping spot, the one facing Tañon Strait, because there were already two groups camping ahead of us. But we still had an awesome spot. Everyone then pitched their tents before preparing for dinner.

While France was cooking our dinner, I decided to head for the summit because there was a signal there and it was an awesome afternoon. The area would be enveloped by fog during early mornings and late afternoons, especially during the rainy season, but there was no fog that day. I had some awesome photos, but I decided to have them in a separate post. I want this post for France's photos alone.

We had a sumptuous dinner before the socials time. The menu was lechon kawali (crispy fried pork belly), ginataang munggo (mung beans in coconut milk), and sisig. It was one of the best dinners I've had. I joked with France that he can have a travel and tour agency and he'll be the guide and cook. They were drinking Kulafu (a Filipino brand of strong liquor) during the socials time. I didn't drink, but I was enjoying their no holds barred conversation.

I didn't really expect anything in that camp. I thought I would just be there for the cold weather and change of scenery. It became one of the best camps I've had even if I joined with mostly strangers. Since it was just a chill camp, we immediately went back home the next day.

I guess that's all for this post. See you at the next one!

It is sooo you — unbothered. In so many ways. Hehe. I miss Osmena Peak. It's been years since I last camped there. When kaya ulit...

I'm unbothered but my bills are also unbothered. It keeps on stacking. 😅

Don't camp in Osmena Peak. It's too commercialized. You'll know it's commercialized when you hear lato-lato very early in the morning. HAHAHA

I always wanted to post more often to augment my earnings because my bills are mounting and I have an upcoming out-of-the-country trip, but here we are again.

Living in a cave and in a tent is actually a good way to avoid having to pay rent and bills. I did it for almost two months in the recent past on Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. Currently I am in Hungary. I am planning to return to this lifestyle in the near future. If you are interested in this, then you can check my Hive blog. I wrote blog posts, and I will keep writing blog posts about this.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

It's good if you're living alone, but I'm living with my family. I don't have a choice but to pay the bills.

Thanks for stopping by! Greetings from the Philippines.

Wow, an all strangers camp?! That’s an adventure Kim! Good that you’re safe and had a fun time with everyone! 🥳
I’m also in a similar situation.. when someone invites me to a trip, near or far, I would always end up going even when my wallet is already complaining 😂
Awesome photos from France! And reading the names of the food made me hungry!! Whyyyyy huhu

It's not really an all-strangers camp because everyone knows France, but yeah, it's mostly strangers. I don't know anyone prior to the camp. Plus, they're all straight males. What could go wrong? Hmmmm.

We have to learn how to say no. It's not looking good for our wallets.

It was really tasty as it sounds. They're really good cooks.

Ka nice diay sa Osmeña Peak.😲 Karon pako kakita sa mga nindot nga view. Kulafu tambal sa kabuhi. Hehe

Rare ra man gud magcamp sa Osmeña Peak ma'am. Mostly jud kay day hike lang.

I used to travel as a "joiner" when I was still single. It was fun meeting new people on the trip that you didn't expect to get along with. Great photo, by the way! I love the first one!

So I should do this more often para di na ako maging single? HAHAHA

depende, pero may chance! HAHAHAH

Indeed, God will always provide sir Kim @ybanezkim26.. So glad to know about your out-of-country trip. Just enjoy life to the fullest. Take care always. God bless.

Hopefully jud ma'am makasulot sa immigration. 😂

Ikaw pa sir kim. Claim it. God bless.

ang ganda ng view! 😍 i miss camping..

Camp kana jan! Nice sa Zambales magcamp.

Hello dear friend @ybanezkim26 good day
Those are the things that I love about travel, the opportunity to meet new people and combine different activities together, discover new places and different lifestyles and customs.
It's good that your friend gave you the right to publish the beautiful images of him, you can appreciate the beauty of the place and how much they enjoyed it.
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid day

True! There's this awesome feeling to meet new people, but the introvert in me is always shaking. 😆

My previous @v4vapp proposal has expired. I have a new one which is running but unfunded right now. I'm still running @v4vapp and all my other services.

I've just updated v4v.app and I'm getting ready for some exciting new features after the next hard fork.

Please consider asking your friends to vote for prop #265 or consider unvoting the return vote.

For understandable reasons in the current crypto climate it is harder to get funded by the DHF, I accept this so I'm asking a wider audience for help again. I'll also add that I power up Hive every day and usually power up larger amounts on 1st of the Month. I'm on Hive for ideological reasons much more than for only economic benefit.

Additionally you can also help with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner

If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.

The important thing is that you have enjoyed these moments you have to share with your friends and also contemplate nature, and well that is also motivating to make your publication and share it with everyone. Greetings !
