Today we are happy to announce a new tool created to improve the experience of PeakD (and Hive) users.

This new tool is already integrated into PeakD itself and allow users to automatically switch the API node to the best one available.
Also this is the first project released as open source so others can benefit from the work we do on PeakD.
We are planning to release more tools and libraries as open source in the near future, so hopefully this is only the first post of the list :)
Current status for the API nodes
You can check this on the website itself, but sharing here for a quick look
As you can see there are no nodes at the moment fully working. Please keep in mind that nodes are working perfectly fine on the chain level, just the social part powered by Hivemind still have some things to be fixed after the last HF.
API checks
To understand how the above scores are computed you can check the list of the tests performed for each node (clicking on the magnifying glass).
To get a better understanding of each check you can hover with the mouse on the (?) icon.
Future plans and improvements
The tool is up and running and free to use right now, but we already have some ideas to make it better and to integrate more with peakd.com itself:
- Integrate in the Node Benchmark page
- Allow users to perform a speed test from Beacon itself
- Integrate in the Status page
- Allow users to select multiple nodes in their Settings with a specified order preference.

Certainly makes it easier on most people who don't know how to switch manually.

the node picking works great (or maybe i was lucky) as i had no problems as you rolled it out. if we don't count the not yet fixed things on the hivemind
Now we just need to get those social api parts working so the peakd list function will start to click along again, I miss it for my content hunts.
yes this HF has so far certainly been a big step back for the Social Media apps on Hive. But it will come back around and we'll regain those functions and we'll get our other unique features back up and running with a new server (since the old server no longer works with the new hivemind)

Great idea, maybe automatic node selection would also be useful for load balancing in the future, so that not all request are sent to the same node.
That was our last update we have automatic node selection and recommend all users go to use that by default.
And the hope is that the tool will be developed to be smarter for each user and understanding of the strength and health of the nodes.
