Start Where You Are

When you talk about businesses these days with people, there is always this idea that you've got to get all your cards right before you start taking the steps towards that direction.

I was having a conversation with a friend today where we talked about how and why businesses fail even before they start. I pointed out that anything, be it business or a project, can fail for any reason, even if you've done all your homework.

But my friend saw it differently, his opinion was that the reasons many businesses, especially small-scale businesses fail is because people don't have all their cards right in the first place.

For instance, anyone looking to start without having all the tools, finance, ideas, and motivation is always going to fail if he or she doesn't have all the boxes ticked.

For one, it's debatable that you've got to tick all the boxes before starting, however all of that does not guarantee success, and neither does not being able to tick all the boxes means you're going to fail.

If I am being honest, I did think before that if you don't have all the right things needed to start a business then you're meant to fail, not until I saw someone who basically started with the little he has and eventually was able to build an empire from scratch.

Nonetheless, many would think that the days of building from scratch are over since a lot of people are now into many businesses compared to before where SCARCITY was still something that could easily make a business a very lucrative one.

Before, Education was a really lucrative form of business to people because that's how I see it. You pay to learn, then after learning you get certified and that makes you employable to companies that are willing to pay you for what you learn.

But those days are over as education is now more and easily accessible to people thereby removing the scarcity factor that was once a catalyst for its worldwide recognition.

This is the same with business now where it doesn't matter if you know all the books, have all the tool because if you can tick all the boxes without having a way to interact, communicate and persuade customers you will find it difficult to grow your business to the height that could make it self-sustainable someday.

For any business to survive, succeed and thrive you need to be able to attract more customers without having to use any other tools that would cost you money like the power of communication and persuasion. Big businesses have done it and are still doing it even without us knowing. So it's left for people to first find a way to be as convincing, communicative and persuasive as possible if they really want to succeed or not.

Tools or no tools, you can always start small and grow any business if you have the power to make people keep coming to you to buy your product and go for your service each time they need it.
