Today's topic is smoking and its impact on health. One thing we all know today is that smoking is dangerous, but many people ignore this fact as if nothing will happen to them. A single puff of cigarette smoke doesn't just contain smoke; it introduces over 700 chemicals into our bodies, which gradually damage us. However, in today's generation, smoking has become more than just a habit; it's almost a trend. Some people start because of peer pressure, some to look cool, and others to fit in. But the truth is, today's youth are heavily addicted to smoking, and this is slowly but surely harming the children of our generation. Currently, approximately 50-60% of college students smoke.

Smoking might look cool, but once you start, it will gradually and severely damage your body. People think, "Just light a cigarette, and all my problems will be solved," but the reality is completely different. Cigarettes contain nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide, ammonia, hydrogen, and thousands of other toxic chemicals. These substances slowly destroy the body from the inside. Nothing might happen in a day or a week, but the effects will become noticeable within a year. For example, you'll become breathless when you run, your teeth will turn yellow, your hair will start falling out, your skin will become dry, and your entire body will slow down significantly. You'll get tired easily, and you won't be able to hold your breath for long. These are just some of the problems you'll face if you smoke regularly.
So why do people start smoking? Why do people begin smoking, and there are many reasons for it. First and foremost is peer pressure. In school, college, and the workplace, when all the friends are smoking, a person feels left out if they're not smoking. They feel they can't fit in with the group. So, to be a part of the group and to build their social circle, they start smoking. But is this necessary? Absolutely not. They think it's a very cool thing to do. The second biggest reason is stress. Nowadays, people, especially young people, start smoking thinking of cigarettes as a stress reliever, which is completely wrong. It doesn't relieve stress; on the contrary, it increases stress. It fills the mind with a lot of negative thoughts, which will slow you down.

Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances in the world. When you light a cigarette for the first time, it sends signals to your brain, releasing dopamine, which makes you feel good. But this feeling of relief is temporary, and when it wears off, the body craves another cigarette, and the cycle repeats. That's why it's called chain smoking. Most smokers do not realize that the cost of treating smoking-related diseases is far higher than the cost of cigarettes themselves that smoking
The biggest problem today is that people underestimate the dangers of cigarettes, even when the warning signs are clearly visible, is the problem caused by cigarettes. Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, and nearly 90% of lung cancer cases are linked directly to cigarette smoking, lung cancer. Cigarettes damage the lungs, weaken them, and when the lungs inhale oxygen, the damage gradually worsens, and cancer cells develop. Smoking also causes other diseases. It narrows the blood vessels, reduces blood flow, and leads to heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, and many other problems that develop quickly over the years without you even realizing it. These health issues slowly destroy your body from the inside, long before you even recognize the harm smoking has caused. Only when you see sores developing in your mouth, your teeth starting to break, and all your teeth turning yellow and your skin becoming dull, will you understand how bad smoking really is.
