A colorful world

One thing that drew me into the game a few months back when I first saw the game's trailer was how colorful and awesome the world looked. And so far, it looks really great and the gameplay is really smooth.
At $40, this game seems like a steal compared to the $60-$70 price tag on most games that are being released on the PS5. But one thing I have seen is that the game is pretty short and only have about 9 hours of content to it, so the $40 price point seems about right.

You play as Kena, who is a spirit guide that helps those that have passed away move on to the next world.

Along the way, she finds these little things called The Rot, which help her to fight enemies and cleanse areas. They remind me a lot of the Pikmin games where you have to go around the area and find enough of them to help you accomplish your tasks.

You need to find a certain number of The Rot to cleanse areas and can't get passed these areas until you find them.

There doesn't appear to be anything special about the combat. You have your R1 which does a light attack, R2 which is a heavy attack, L1 which is a shield and if you press it at the right time, it is also a parry. So there really isn't anything too special about the combat in the game that we haven't seen before.

The beginning of the game starts off with you trying to follow these two little kids, that are actually spirits. Once you catch up to them and they aren't scared of you anymore, they tell you about their brother that needs some help.

I don't have any idea who these little kids are or if they are dead and just waiting on Kena to help them move onto the next life. They do remind me of cute little Disney movie characters though.

As you play, you can find some currency that can be used for upgrading your attacks and other powers. The games doesn't really explain much about the currency or upgrading, but I wonder if I am just trying to figure out all those different menus a bit early and haven't given the game much time to explain things yet.

The music is great and the voice acting seems pretty good so far. It is pretty cool that an indie game development team was able to get create a game like this that looks and plays so well. I have read that the team is pretty small and only has like 15 people, so for them to be able to make a game that looks this good, it is pretty impressive.

With that being said, I am hoping that the game doesn't fall flat in terms of actual content. That was one thing that I hated about BioMutant. That game looked pretty good, but had such a small team that made it, and there wasn't much substance to the game.

A lot of people have been comparing this game to Zelda and I am hoping that it lives up to that. So far, it seems pretty cool. I will probably beat this game by the end of the week and I am hoping that it has a story that holds my attention.
Really can’t wait to start there here in a bit. My inner child is hyped.
You remind me to forget about Biomutant, part of me still wants to play that one. I need to pretend that it doesn’t exist.
Ya. I wrote off Bio Mutant. That was a huge disappointment just like Cyberpunk was.
This game looks like a perfect mix of beautiful and charming. Putting this on my wishlist.
It really is. The little rot dudes are the cutest.
One day when I buy a ps5... I might try this game out. This was a good read in between.. and no matter how simple a game may be as long as it has a good storyline, i'm game on!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing.
Hopefully you can get a PS5 soon and try this game out. The PS5 is such a great console and has a ton of great games on it.
oooh, i didn't even know this was released yet. This is one of the only games that i think i would pay full price for. Thanks for the reminder!
It is pretty good so far. I hope you enjoy it.
This looks amazing, I will try this one out.
Let me know how it goes for you.
I will, thanks.
I think it's beautiful, more and more indie games are coming out that could easily pass for big productions and even manage to look much better than them. This game in particular gives me very good vibes.
I agree. The indie scene has been doing a lot better in recent years, while the big labels have been letting everyone down. Hopefully that pushes the bigger labels to step up their game.
Hmmm.... I wonder...
I might give it a try!
It is worth it if you can play it.
Hehehe... Hive and Splinterland keep me so busy!
