Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Forbidden West is without a doubt one of the most eagerly awaited PS5 exclusives, with a release date of February 2022 fast approaching.
Horizon Forbidden West was initially set to release in 2021 on both the PS5 and PS4, but was moved back to February 18, 2022 during Gamesom 2021.
Horizon Forbidden West, the follow-up to 2017's critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn, will continue the storey of heroine Aloy. She's in the western United States this time, on a quest to stop a mystery menace known only as the Red Blight. Following in the footsteps of Zero Dawn, the game will include a big open environment to explore, complete with robots, gadgets, and weapons to uncover. Underwater exploration and a variety of new tools and weaponry are among the new activities Aloy will encounter on her quest. It's safe to say that what we've seen thus far is visually stunning.
Though it was previously supposed to be released in 2021, especially after PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan told GQ that he felt "quite good" that Horizon Forbidden West will be released that year, Sony announced during Gamescom 2021 that the game has been postponed until February 18th, 2022. While it's later than anticipated, it's now a confirmed date.
This comes when Sony Studios' Hermen Hulst indicated caution about just the release date in June, while a Bloomberg storey in July indicated that Sony has pushed back the release date of Horizon Forbidden West to the first quarter of 2022.
"It's no great shock that our groups were hugely impacted by the worldwide epidemic," said game designer Mathijs de Jonge in a mail on the official PlayStation Blog, "we have been adapting to commutating, guidelines, and other obstacles, while keeping our teams safe and prioritising a healthy work/life balance."
