I AM THE LEGEND OF ZELDA MASTER!!!

I remember it was on my 4th birthday when I got my Nintendo. This was back when 8 and 16 bit video games were the shit! It was summer during the late 80s. Super Mario Brothers and The Legend of Zelda were all the rage.

I remember I was so little back then I didn't have a clue how to play Nintendo. I remember I would lay up in bed with my Dad and watched him play. He would move Link around all around the screen. We would explore the whole world of Hyrule together.

I remember in the beginning when we would get stuck we had to call the old Nintendo Power hotline found in the magazine. We didn't have no Google or smart phone we could just look up how to do it. We had to actually call a guy HA HA! Whenever we got stuck on a level, we had to call the number and talk to a guy who walked us through the maze. That was how we used to play back then HA HA! I remember it took us months before my Dad finally beat Zelda. And that was only the easy world! It was me, as I got bigger and started playing on my own who actually played the 2nd and more difficult world. My Dad couldn't believe it because he said it was too hard for him to play. He gave up HA HA.

Now, after 32 years later I am the Legend of Zelda Master! I was actually 29 when I made this video setting the record. I beat the original Legend of Zelda, the 2nd world, with only 3 hearts. Which would of been 25 years later. I'm 36 now. Even so, after two decades I got my hands on an old Nintendo just so I could play the original Legend of Zelda. Playing it again reminded me of all the fun times I had as a little boy playing the game with my Dad up in bed. Good times! The good old days HA HA.

Legend of Zelda 2nd world 3 heart challenge

Now for how I did it.

It was shit dumb luck really. Lots of running around dodging fire balls trying not to get hit. It was on the 16th life fighting Gannon when I did it. I stabbed and stabbed and stabbed. I about shit a brick too because I couldn't believe it. My heart was racing the whole time I was fighting I needed to calm down. I had to stop and grab the camera to make the video to show that I actually did it. And did it in only 16 lives!!! Nobody is ever going to beat this record! I probably won't even be able to beat my own record HA HA. I was actually expecting to die like 100 times before finally defeating him.

So I challenge you...

If you are a good player, then you shouldn't of started dying till you reached Level 9. I remember I died only a few times before making it to Level 9. Levels 6 and 7 are pretty hard with only 3 hearts. Still though, most of your deaths are going to be in Level 9. Mine were mostly from fighting Gannon. Like 3 hits you're dead and that is it even after you get the Red Ring.

What makes fighting Gannon so hard is the fact that without getting hearts you can't get the sword upgrades. As you can see in my video I was using the same sword that you start out with at the beginning of the game. Which means you have to whack Gannon like 15 times or so before he turns red and you can hit him with the Silver Arrow.

What I did was is got the Magic Wand early on. In the 2nd world, you don't get the Magic Wand till Level 8. So you are going to go on an adventure just to get the Magic Wand. But it is worth it. Don't worry though because Level 8 is super easy once you get in. The adventure you go on to get to Level 8 is much harder than Level 8. Oh the irony! But you want that Magic Wand.

DO NOT get the book in Level 7. I repeat, DO NOT get the book in Level 7. You do not need it. The fire from each wand blast will get in your way.

To avoid getting the heart container in Level 1, go behind the dragon in front of the door and unload on his ass with the wand. When he dies the heart will appear on the square next to you and you won't get it and you can go right in and get the Triforce piece.

So this ones for you Dad! To the good old days. Maybe when my son Maverick gets a little bigger he will sit up in bed with me and watch me play the original Legend of Zelda. Only he will be watching me play with 3 hearts HA HA.

DISQUALIFICATION:
You can lose heart containers in the 2nd world. So no cheating by getting 5 hearts to get the White Sword or fighting your way to Gannon with 5 hearts and then removing two of them. Go back and watch the video again. You will see I killed Gannon with the shitty sword. If I can do it so can you.

I'm honestly impressed by your achievement, I'm a huge fan of The Legend of Zelda in general, but I don't think I have the patience to get through the first game with three hearts lol

Definitely a show of perseverance, skill and patience, congratulations and best regards.

Thank you! Glad you liked my story. I should add that Level 8 is very easy in the 2nd world. The adventure you go on to get to Level 8 is actually harder than Level 8. You need the ladder to get to Level 8. You get the Ladder in Level 6. So right away the game starts off excruciatingly hard. Get bombs, the Power Bracelet, and the Blue Ring right away before going into any level.

Thanks for the advice, I remember that when I complete the game for first time was very satisfying, doing it with 3 hearts must be like reaching lol Nirvanna.

Maybe I'll try sometime, but I prefer to preserve my mental sanity haha

Playing the game normally is what drove me insane. It is too easy. Getting the idea to play the game with 3 hearts made it more a challenge and thus more fun I think. Which makes me want to try the other Zelda's now with only 3 hearts. I wonder how hard Ocarina of Time would be with only 3 hearts? Except I think in Ocarina of Time you have to get the heart containers after defeating every boss.

For me NES games are really hard lol, ability differences I guess.

Nah, it is not necessary, after each boss you just enter in the blue light and done, just have to take care of not touching the heart container right after you defeat the boss, because of bad luck you can appear near of it, so saving before the battle is a good choice.

Idk if with Majora's it is the same case, but I played the game on 3ds recently and I'm pretty sure it was possible to just continue without the container.

Now that I have the Nintendo 64 I want to complete both games with 3 hearts, so wish me luck haha.

Honestly I didn't like Majora's Mask. I thought it was the dumbest of all the Zelda's. It was fun though rolling around the world as Goron Link with those spikes annihilating everything in your path like those weird bubble creatures called Chu Chu's.

I do know if you play Ocarina of Time with only three hearts there are creatures that can kill you with one hit. Like Dark Nuts. One whack from them takes 4 hearts. Use Bombchu's to fight them. It is cheap but it works. Don't whack them to wake them up so they can come after you. Stand at the other end of the room from them and start sending Bombchu's their way. The Bombchu's will blow them up before they come close to you.

That is a very unpopular opinion lol, but it is understandable though.

That Bombchu's strategy sounds good, I'll remember that for when I start my 3 hearts run, thanks!

What i could never do in Zelda was get all the heart containers.
There was one up on a cliff that i couldn't get.
It turns into a land mine... not sure the reason, either turning off the game (saved) or having gone to the mirror world
