My 3Speaking Today

Hey, what's up, players! Happy start of the week to all of you, I hope you are doing wonderfully well. For my part, I welcome you to my gaming 3Speak channel and, as always, to its corresponding post regarding today's gameplay. Well, today I wanted to expand a little further on a point raised in the last Warioland II post, and that is the one about not being a 'speedrunner', in this day and age where the 'gameplay' niche is often dominated by this type of gamer whose main objective when playing a video game is to finish it in record time, and where we usually see them breaking world records of, for example, the shortest time to complete Super Mario Bros 2, just to cite one example. Without going off on a tangent, what I really want to express is that although I respect all the different ways that gamers have found nowadays to get the most out of their video games, I truly feel no attraction whatsoever to these so-called speedruns, since I feel that beyond all the adrenaline they may provide, they also bring stress, something I already have more than enough of in other areas of my life, and from which I try to escape precisely through video games. That is to say, for me video games are something more therapeutic and enjoyable without competition, rather than something that would make me feel stressed in my day to day life. Although I must admit that the adrenaline can indeed be felt at times with some retro titles, especially those in the platfor genre… ha ha!

Great! More and more different types of enemies keep showing up in Warioland II, and in this eighth gameplay session we can confirm this. For this new mission in chapter 2, titled 'Story 3: Get in the Tea Cup', our main objective turns out to be to successfully board a huge pirate ship called the SS Tea Cup, but in order to do so we first had to make our way through a large number of enemies of the, so to speak… aquatic type, ha ha! As we encounter, for example, a large number of sawfish called 'Drills', which for the time being seem to be invincible and can only be stunned for a brief moment in order to get past them. The same goes for the aquatic moray eels called 'Utsutsubo', which, if they catch you, not only take away some of your coins, but also drag you down into the depths of the underwater caves and throw you into the underwater currents that will carry you back to the starting area of said cave, causing you to lose quite a bit of time. In fact, this happens at around minute 04:13 of the gameplay, where one of them captures me due to my enormous greediness over a single coin : D

Another truly delightful thing about this Story, or level so to speak, was the use they make of enemies as a sort of bridges to reach another section of the level. For example, we can see how a sort of sea gulls are used in the level as a trampoline or platform to either reach more coins or to advance along the path, but be careful! Because these will only be able to support our heavy Wario for a brief moment, so one must jump quickly before falling back into the water and losing progress in the level. It is also great to see how that entering and appearing effect of said sea gulls was achieved when one of them disappears after standing on top of them past the time limit, without a doubt a technical feat considering that this is a Game Boy Color game. With nothing more to add, my friends, I bid you farewell for today, but not without first giving you, as always, my most sincere thanks for the support of this gaming 3Speak channel. Cheers 👍✨😀
