Not long ago I talked about the first installment of Assassin's Creed, personally it wasn't much to my liking because it was incredibly monotonous and repetitive to me, however the story had a very promising basis, Desmond Miles was a descendant of the Assassins, a brotherhood that fights against the Templars through time, in the first installment, Desmond through the memories of his ancestor Altair discovers a map with the location of fragments of Eden, which the Templars energetically search.

At the end of the first game Desmond is rescued by Lucy Stillman, an Assassin undercover in Abstergo Industries, who at the beginning of the second installment takes him out of the building and takes him along with a new team of Assassins to fight Abstergo and the Templars, thanks to an advanced version of the Animus called Animus 2.0, with which Desmond explores the memories of another of his ancestors: Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
Set in Renaissance Italy, Ezio was a young man son of both beloved and hated man, Giovanni Auditore. Ezio spent his days without great complications until one day his father and brothers are imprisoned and sentenced to death, when his father tells him to go to a friend who would help him be forgiven, this turns out to be a traitor who personally declares the execution of Ezio's relatives.

In a spiral of sadness and anger, Ezio helps his mother in shock and his sister to escape from the city to Monteriggioni, a small village where Mario Auditore, Ezio's uncle, lives, and with whom he meets in the middle of a confrontation that almost lost.
I make a parenthesis to highlight a dialogue by Uncle Mario, and it's that he's presented as “It’s-a-me, Mario!”, Surely more than one will identify who that dialogue refers to.
Ezio was only thinking of passing through, but Mario convinces him to stay and learn the techniques of an Assassin, so Ezio trains himself thoroughly in the art of combat under the tutelage of his uncle Mario, who in turn told him about his family's past.
After training hard and with the help of various historical figures such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Ezio will hunt down every man involved in the conspiracy against his family, from Vieri de 'Pazzi to Rodrigo Borgia, all will fall under the edge of the hidden blade of the new assassin who seeks to do justice for his family.
I wouldn't like to delve into more details of the story so I will move on to the gameplay, where all the innovation that this game brings to light is.
The base formula is the same as the first Assassin's Creed, we play in an open world where we can perform high and low profile actions which can help us to go unnoticed by the guards or on the contrary they can get their attention, something I didn't like about this is that the guards in the first AC were quite sensitive to these movements, reaching points where running a little could cause that they begin to chase you, this has been reduced in this installment but they have added elements that increase the level of detection of the enemies, for example, search posters with Ezio's face, which we can tear off to reduce his notoriety.
The way we can do parkour has been improved, now we can climb buildings faster than with Altair, who had a little slower and more leisurely movements, on the other hand Ezio is much faster to do everything, in addition to having a couple of new movements.

The combat became a delight, being much more satisfying in my opinion, and with a very large variety of options to choose from, you can go simple and counterattack any enemy that approaches, or be a little more creative and increase the variety of attacks you use during combat.
The weapons can be chosen through a wheel for ease, weapons from the first AC return such as the hidden blade, sword, knives, and others, with the novelty that we can change weapons thanks to the blacksmiths of the game, and not only this, but we can also buy armor that increases our life bar, we can even buy medicine to use during combat, none of this was possible during the first Assassin's Creed and everything is due to a single reason:
Exactly, money didn't exist, there was no way to earn money on the first AC, instead AC2 implements an economic system where we can collect money from our victims or even steal it from passersby on the street, in addition to buying things, it has other practical uses, for example, you can pay courtesans to form a group around Ezio and this pass unnoticed by the guards, you can even send them to directly distract the guards.

The flow of the game becomes much more varied and interesting than in the first installment, as it has more variety in the main objectives and in how the story passes, not to mention the secondary missions that we have at our disposal, which are also more entertaining in my opinion.
Once again, it isn't my intention to speak ill of the first Assassin's Creed, but to note the clear evolution that its direct sequel presented, and the very good work done improving the weaker aspects of the first game, the next games were based on building over this to progressively improve the formula, but I can't talk about those titles since I haven't had the experience of playing them, but if I do, they will be here for you in the future.

Hace no mucho tiempo hablé de la primera entrega de Assassin´s Creed, personalmente no fue mucho de mi agrado pues se me hacía increíblemente monótono y repetitivo, sin embargo la historia tenía una base muy prometedora, Desmond Miles era un descendiente de los Asesinos, una hermandad que lucha contra los templarios a través del tiempo, en la primera entrega, Desmond a través de los recuerdos de su antepasado Altair descubre un mapa con la localización de fragmentos del Edén, los cuales los templarios buscan energéticamente.

Al final del primer juego Desmond es rescatado por Lucy Stillman, una Asesina encubierta en Abstergo, la cual al inicio de la segunda entrega lo saca del edificio y lo lleva junto con un nuevo equipo de Asesinos para combatir a Abstergo y los templarios, gracias a una versión avanzada del Animus llamada Animus 2.0, con la cual Desmond explora los recuerdos de otro de sus antepasados: Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
Ambientado en la Italia renacentista, Ezio era un joven hijo de un hombre muy querido y a la vez odiado, Giovanni Auditore. En una espiral de tristeza y rabia Ezio ayuda a su madre en estado de shock y a su hermana a escapar de la ciudad hacia Monteriggioni, una pequeña villa en la cual vive Mario Auditore, el tío de Ezio, con el cual se encuentra a mitad de un enfrentamiento que casi pierde.
Hago un paréntesis para destacar un diálogo del tío Mario, y es que en inglés se presenta como “It’s-a-me, Mario!”, seguramente más de uno identificará a quién hace referencia ese diálogo.
Ezio solo pensaba ir de paso, pero Mario lo convence de quedarse y aprender las técnicas de un Asesino, por lo que Ezio se entrena a fondo en el arte del combate bajo la tutela de su tío Mario, este a su vez le contaba sobre el pasado de su familia.
Después de entrenarse arduamente y con la ayuda de varios personajes históricos como Leonardo Da Vinci, Ezio dará caza a cada hombre involucrado en la conspiración contra su familia, desde Vieri de’ Pazzi hasta Rodrigo Borgia, todos caerán bajo el filo de la hoja oculta del nuevo Asesino que busca hacer justicia por su familia.
No me gustaría indagar en más detalles de la historia así que pasaré al gameplay, donde está toda la innovación que trae a relucir este juego.
La fórmula base es la misma que el primer Assassin’s Creed, jugamos en un mundo abierto donde podemos realizar acciones de alto y bajo perfil las cuales pueden ayudarnos a pasar desapercibidos ante los guardias o al contrario pueden llamar su atención, algo que no me gustaba de esto es que los guardias en el primer AC eran bastante sensibles a estos movimientos, llegando a puntos en lo que correr un poco podía delatarte, esto se ha reducido en esta entrega pero han añadido elementos que aumentan el nivel de detección de los enemigos, por ejemplo, carteles de búsqueda con la cara de Ezio, los cuales podemos arrancar para reducir nuestra notoriedad.
La forma en la que podemos hacer parkour se ha visto mejorada, ahora podemos escalar edificios con más rapidez que con Altair, que tenía movimientos un poco más lentos y pausados, en cambio Ezio es mucho más rápido para hacer todo, además de tener un par de movimientos nuevos.

El combate se transformó en una delicia, siendo mucho más satisfactorio en mi opinión, y con una variedad de opciones a elegir muy grande, puedes ir por lo simple y contraatacar a todo enemigo que se acerque, o ser un poco más creativo y aumentar la variedad de ataques que utilizas durante el combate.
Las armas pueden elegirse a través de una rueda para más facilidad, regresan armas del primer AC como la hoja oculta, espada, cuchillos, y otras, con la novedad de que podemos cambiar de armas gracias a los herreros del juego, y no solo esto, sino también podemos comprar armaduras que aumentan nuestra barra de vida, incluso podemos comprar medicina para usarla durante los combates, nada de esto era posible durante el primer Assassin’s Creed y todo se debe a una sola razón:
Exacto, el dinero no existía, no había forma de ganar dinero, en cambio AC implementa un sistema económico donde podemos recoger el dinero de nuestras victimas o incluso robarlo a los transeúntes en la calle, además de comprar cosas, tiene otros usos prácticos, por ejemplo, puedes pagar a cortesanas para que formen un grupo alrededor de Ezio y este pase inadvertido ante los guardias, incluso puedes enviarlas a que distraigan directamente a los guardias.

El flujo del juego se hace mucho más variado e interesante que en la primera entrega, pues tiene más variedad en los objetivos principales y en como transcurre la historia, ni hablar de las misiones secundarias que tenemos a nuestra disposición, que también resultan más entretenidas en mi opinión.
Una vez más, no es mi intención hablar mal del primer Assassin’s Creed, sino hacer notar la clara evolución que presentó su secuela directa, y del muy buen trabajo realizado mejorando los aspectos más flojos del primer juego, los próximos juegos se basaron en construir sobre esto para ir mejorando la fórmula progresivamente, pero ya de esos títulos no puedo hablar pues no he tenido la experiencia de jugarlos, pero si lo hago, aquí estarán para ustedes en el futuro.

Excelente post, Assassin's Creed es mi saga favorita de videojuegos y sí se siente una evolución en Assassin's Creed 2. De cierto modo todo se vuelve más dinámico, este no es mi favorito pero es el mejor de la saga, supo hacer bien las cosas y llevar a la franquicia por un buen camino aunque las entregas posteriores solo se volvieran una maquina traga monedas. Me parece interesante tu comentario, suena a que de verdad has jugado mucho Assassin's Creed, tengo pendiente empezar el 3 en Wii U pero tengo algunas prioridades antes, curiosamente es el 3 el que más me ha llamado la atención toda la vida.
