Amigos en los encuentros por Discord han escuchado que invito a descubrir las fortalezas, habilidades y destrezas que poseemos y lo hago desde la experiencia de vida que he acumulado hasta ahora, pues desde muy niña gracias a la educación que impartían las monjas del Madre Enriqueta conocí mis habilidades manuales, con múltiples oficios que ellas implican y para mí eso ha sido muy útil toda la vida.
Tan importante resulta para mí el hecho de usar mis manos que recuerdo que muy chica un día me encontré observando en detalle ambas manos y pensando debo cuidarlas, son muy importantes, me ayudan a hacer todo lo que imagino.
¿Se lo imaginan? una niña pequeña valorando la importancia de tener ambas manos funcionales, pues sí esa era yo, la que a todo le encontraba una solución, la que razonaba como un adulto ante los retos que descubría mamá estaba afrontando, la que hacía todo por portarse bien y no causarle problemas o preocupación a mi mamá, pues ella ya tenía suficientes.
Y ni hablar de las reparaciones o remodelaciones que pueda ameritar una prenda o algo que lleve tela, y es justo de eso de lo que les vengo a contar... hace unos días una Sra amiga me pidió que le fabricara unos forros para sus sillas de comedor.
La Sra ya había escogido dos cortes de tela que tenía guardada, me los mostró, calculé si nos alcanzaría para forrar las cuatro sillas y al medir comprobé que sobraría tela, por lo que le propuse utilizar un solo corte y guardar el otro, para otra costura que quisiera hacer. Al traer la tela a casa, también trajimos una de las sillas para tomar las medidas exactas y poder rectificar en caso que fuere necesario.
Les confieso que hacía tiempo que no me ocupaba de confeccionar forros para sillas, por lo que me tomé un momento para idear la forma de sacar los patrones que es lo primero que debemos hacer en toda costura, a menos que dibujemos sobre la tela y saquemos la pieza directa (cosa que en éste caso no aplicaba), una ves diseñados los patrones extendí la tela y comencé a cortar, cuatro cortes de cada pieza que comprendía el diseño del forro.
Fue emocionante al tener el primero ya armado colocarselo a la silla y ver que había quedado perfecto (en Venezuela decimos "al pelo"), confirmando así que el diseño era el ideal para el trabajo que estaba haciendo, continué con la costura hasta terminar el último forro.
Hechos los forros para las cuatro sillas, le dije a la Sra par que los viniera a buscar y como estaba celebrando la llegada de su hijo esa noche, lo dejamos para el día siguiente cuando casualmente me encontró en la parada camino a la Urbanización, me dió la cola, pasamos buscando los forros, su silla y los llevamos a su casa, vestimos las otras tres sillas y ¡vualá! se hizo la magia de la transformación.
Amigos recuerdo que las Monjas nos decían que debíamos prepararnos para la vida, que todo lo aprendiéramos nos iba a servir para trabajar y sustentarnos como seres humanos y como ciudadanos donde quiera que nos encontraramos.
Hoy en día es una realidad que la figura del empleo no es tan segura como lo fue para dos generaciones atrás, algo así como hace cuarenta o treinta años, las personas vivían bien con un salario mínimo fijo, eso representaba estabilidad en un hogar, y si en la casa habían dos salarios, pues sus vidas eran más cómodas, incluso se hablaba de la Clase Media Alta y la Clase Media, que eran familias de buen vivir con ingresos suficientes para cubrir sus necesidades y gustos. Hoy en día ya no se habla de vivir de un salario y menos de vivir con un ingreso mínimo, pues no es suficiente para el sustento de una persona, menos para el de una familia.
Por ello es vital descubrir las habilidades y dones que poseemos, identificar cuál nos agrada más, educarnos en ello, convertirnos en el mejor en hacerlo y disfrutar desempeñarnos en eso, obteniendo dinero por hacerlo.
Dicen que quién gana dinero por hacer lo que le apasiona, nunca en su vida trabaja, porque en realidad lo que hace es divertirse y encima le pagan por hacerlo.

Can you imagine it? a little girl valuing the importance of having both functional hands, well yes, that was me, the one who found a solution to everything, the one who reasoned like an adult in the face of the challenges that mom discovered she was facing, the one who did everything to behave well and not cause problems or worry to my mother, because she already had enough.
And not to mention the repairs or remodeling that a garment or something that has fabric may require, and that is exactly what I am here to tell you about... a few days ago a friend of mine asked me to make some linings for her chairs of dining room.
The lady had already chosen two cuts of fabric that she had saved, she showed them to me, I calculated if it would be enough to cover the four chairs and when I measured I verified that there would be leftover fabric, so I proposed to use a single cut and save the other, for another sewing you want to do. When we brought the fabric home, we also brought one of the chairs to take the exact measurements and be able to rectify them if necessary.
I confess that it had been a long time since I had been in the business of making chair covers, so I took a moment to figure out how to draw the patterns, which is the first thing we should do in all sewing, unless we draw on the fabric and draw the direct piece (which in this case did not apply), once the patterns were designed, I extended the fabric and began to cut, four cuts of each piece that included the design of the lining.
It was exciting to have the first one already assembled, put it on the chair and see that it had turned out perfect (in Venezuela we say "al pelo"), thus confirming that the design was ideal for the work I was doing, I continued with the sewing until I finished the last lining.
Made the covers for the four chairs, I told the lady to come get them and as she was celebrating the arrival of her son that night, we left it for the next day when he coincidentally found me at the stop on the way to the Urbanization, I The queue gave way, we went looking for the linings, his chair and we took them to his house, we dressed the other three chairs and voila! the magic of transformation was done.
Friends, I remember that the Nuns told us that we should prepare ourselves for life, that everything we learned would not serve to work and support us as human beings and as citizens wherever we were.
Today it is a reality that the figure of employment is not as secure as it was two generations ago, something like forty or thirty years ago, people lived well with a fixed minimum wage, that represented stability in a home, and if in the house there were two salaries, then their lives were more comfortable, there was even talk of the Upper Middle Class and the Middle Class, which were families of good living with enough income to cover their needs and tastes. Today there is no longer talk of living on a salary and less of living on a minimum income, since it is not enough to support a person, much less that of a family.
That is why it is vital to discover the skills and gifts that we possess, identify which one we like the most, educate ourselves in it, become the best at doing it and enjoy doing it, getting money for doing it.
They say that whoever earns money for doing what they are passionate about never works in their life, because in reality what they do is have fun and on top of that they pay them to do it.

Amigaa @abeba, pero que maravilla de verdad. Esas sillas para el estado en que se encontraban, te quedaron esplendidas. Y es como dices, debemos aprender a trabajar con nuestras manos, es un tesoro en potencia que tenemos en la vida, yo que me dedico al arte manual, (no en todos sus campos claro), pero te puedo decir que se siente excelente, poder restaurar algo por nosotros mismos. Por mi parte te felicito, tienes potencial.
