Today i want to sharing my old video when i am still active and still having high spirit to make succulent and cactus content. And in this content i want to sharing how to make a simple yet beautiful mini garden cactus terrarium to make your desk or hang out place more artistic.
For your info i make this terrarium around 2020 and this is one of the clients order with some of Mamillaria cactus and some Gymnocalycium cactus. Maybe next time i will make a new one and sharing again to you guys. But, for make my spirit back i need fuel to bring back my drive to making some succulent and cactus terrarium again.
Okay basically creating terrarium Design is not hard, you just need to collaborate between rocks,container plant pot, cosmetic sand, and of course the main actor in this design is the plant. Just think that you are ready to paint in canvas. So the plants is like the colour. Make it vibrant and make it lusting.
First, we need to prepare the container pot first, you can using plastic pot,plastic container,or ceramic pot,or bonsai pot, or whatever else that having a hole or at least mini hole in the bottom of the container ( this for the drainage system in your countainer) if there is not having hole you need to make a hole then.
After having container, then prepare the plants. You need selecting the plant that having same characteristic, In my case i am using almost same characteristic that cactus need very little water in the container and tend to dry. After plants and container, you just need to searching and finding any rocks that will help you elevate to make it natural. I find rocks in my house and just using it no need to buy it.
To make it complete you need to mix some material to make soil for the plants if you want to know you can look at this video i have made video to mixing and make Succulent Soil.
Then you need one more preparation that is Cosmetic sand, in this content i am using Replica of Dessert Sand that using silica sand base.
After all material complete, first up you need to insert and make three-quarter of your container with soil.
After done that you need to starting placing rocks and just make it random and make some design,formating it placing there and there.
After placing the rocks that you wanted, then you need starting to placing and plant the cactus.
Dont forget to adding some mini detail, in here i am adding some mini branch that i got from near my house. i guess it is place for fruit but i dont know what plant it is, and very good if placing as a detail in my terrarium.
After the plant completed planted and you feel the design very good, then it is time to adding some cosmetic sand to covering up the planted soil and make it neat.
And you can make it neat using brush to make it looks like a natural dessert sand even it is a replica one.
After you covered all the planted soil with cosmetic sand, it is time to adding more detailing with smaller rocks to make it natural
After placing some small rocks as detailing i think the view and the design will be a completely different. Neat and natural at the same time.
And this is the result of my cactus terrarium design that i make.

Terrariums are always interesting to look at, they have their charm. I don't have one at home but it would be lovely to put one.
