Hello everybody! I hope that all of you are having a wonderful weekend so far. My days have been a little too filled with stress lately, and that is why I got into a weird cycle of procrastination, playing a lot of video games, eating a lot of junk food, and working, working, working.
Yesterday I got the day off so I decided to take care of a little bit of my garden because it has been a few days since I didn't do anything there and there were a couple of things that I needed to take care of. Maybe because of the stress or perhaps I was trying to rush things up, the truth is I made a big mess, and it is funny now but yesterday I was not very happy about it, lol.
Every time I go to make something in the backyard Pauchi is so curious and he just loves to stay with me and supervise my doings, to later go on his own whenever I am sleeping or busy and make a mess where I was working.
The first thing I did was to separate the strawberry plants from the coriander because as I told you before, I planted a lot of strawberries but out of nowhere a couple of coriander plants started to germinate, and they got to be very close but the coriander grew faster, so I transplanted each in separate pots and so far they have adapted to their new place and both remain alive and well.
I started to dig in a rectangular space of around 1 m long x 50 cm wide until it was like 20 cm deep. In the place that I was digging, there was a flower that I placed there a few weeks ago, but since that place receives the sun directly for about 3-4 hours in the morning and until midday, apparently that doesn’t suit her too much because the plant was starting to wither, so I decided to take it from there again to a pot on her own under the shadow of the tree of the neighbors´ backyard.
Digging, I found an old coin that, given the value, surely has been there for more than 10 years, so It was funny.
I also discovered a new palm tree seed that had been germinated amongst the basil and I did not notice before until I got everything that was in on that flowerpot and I saw it. It is so beautiful, and I decided to plant it obviously and now I am taking care of it and I hope that lives because I love palm trees and I am trying to have a big one.
My tiny tomatoes and basil plants were the ones I decided to place where I was digging, and that is when the big disaster came to place. You see, I did it weirdly, because instead of digging small holes to place each basil or tomato plant, the big rectangular-form place I dug was just there, like a big hole, and I did not have enough soil to cover it entirely.
I had tons and tons of small tomato and basil seedlings, and as I was trying trying to take them out of the small flowerpot where they have sprouted, by accident I destroyed some of the plants, the roots, and then when I wanted to place the on the new place, I wasn't careful enough and it was quite messy. Anyhow, I tried to cover each one of them with a little bit of rich soil, and despite standing there in irregular and weird ways, they were there. I proceeded to water them after finishing.
I still do not possess a watering can or at least a professional one, so I made one myself from a recycled plastic bottle that I had bought before. With a hot piece of thin metal, I pierced the lid of the plastic bottle many times, and voilá, a watering bottle that does not hurt the plants.
Yesterday it was a windy afternoon and I was afraid for my small basils, and I thought I had screwed but today when I checked them, most of the plants were still there alive and steady, so I guess they might survive and develop properly as I wanted by the end of the season.
As always I thank anyone who might get interested in my post and I want you to know I deeply appreciate the time that it took you to stop by and check it, I send regards and best wishes.
César.
I hope you felt better for being out in the garden. I know what you mean about eating too much and not doing much - it's never good for the soul though sometimes we need to just zone out. I always feel better when I'm in the garden.
I hate platning little fiddly basil seeds - I do the same thing and make a mess and kill half of them haha. But my basil is really going for it at the moment and tastes delicous, so it was worth it.
Yes yes! Exactly. I still have to develop some kind of technique in the garden because although I love to work on it, sometimes I take such amateur choices that end up affecting negatively the plants. But anyway I don't regret doing anything because that is how we learn, by making things and mistakes.
I am trying to reconnect and come back to my focus, thank you very much for your wish. Regards and hugs @riverflows
I love your improvised watering can. By the way, I too made some mistakes in the digging thing.
😅 I guess that we all have to keep learning, but from what I can see in your posts, you're very professional in what you do! Thanks for checking on my post, friend. Best wishes to you.
You're welcome and thank you also
Thank you very much (^_^) but I am actually a beginner, maybe the only glaring difference between me and other beginners is... I am a farmer's son, in my childhood, I see how my father plant and grow vegetables.
