On Wednesday morning, once my post was up, I got another load of dishes in the dishwasher, folded the laundry, and sat down for awhile. I got a message about the cast iron crib I had listed in marketplace in December. Someone was interested in it and could pick it up late afternoon.
It started to warm up mid morning, so I got ready and went outside to start the South Herb garden.
I brought all the stuff I’d need around and laid it out.
Things went well until I got to the pot on the right. That was white sage and it had exploded the pot it was in. So I had to dig it up and put it in a new pot. Because this is the south side, the weeds had plenty of time all winter to develop root systems and it took a bit to dig them all out. If left, most would just comeback.
The pot front center has chocolate mint in it and it had managed to get into the soil. So I had to pull that pot out and dig out all the roots. Fortunately, the pot was still whole.
I stopped about 2 PM to get something to eat and ask my son to help get the crib out of the attic. Then I went back to this garden. Behind the tall dark branches is meadowsweet. It’s pretty invasive. So I had to get a shovel and dig the roots away from the surrounding plants. That took a while.
By 3:30PM I had finished the weeding and got my photos and put down BulbTone and FlowerTone. This south facing garden had things starting hence the FlowerTone. I decided to put it on all the gardens I had finished so far, so I did that. Then I got cleaned up but never got my notes written.
I went inside and got a shower and got a call from the person buying the crib. She was coming early.
My son had finally gotten the wildflower area weedwacked, before plants really got started. But he made a mess with the leaves into the yard. I will have to rake them up on Thursday.
The crib was loaded and I went inside and started heating up the corned beef and cabbage for supper and sat down to watch Gilmore Girls until bedtime. It wasn’t to be as cold so we only lit the wood stove.
On Thursday I have to find out how my helper friend is doing, call again to try to set up for people to come in April to wash windows, check if Monday is a good day to deliver the bone stock to my friend who is recovering from surgery, finish the laundry, clean up the kitchen, check to see if onions have sprouted, rake up the leaves, write the notes for Wednesday’s work, and I hope to start the New East garden once it warms up. If my helper friend is coming and feels up to it, he’ll be cutting tall stuff in the New Herb garden. So another long busy day…
It will be the first day of spring and is supposed to be cloudy but get into the 50’s by afternoon.
How’s your friend who’s recovering from the surgery?
Doing great?
Not really. It's a lot worse than he was lead to believe.

You are really doing a very great job dear friend
The gardens are looking so tidy. You have been working hard on them I see. That crib is beautiful, and I bet that was hard to let go. Stay warm!
I’d put a lot of work into it 33 years ago but it’s been stored in the attic since then. So it was pretty easy to let it go.
I hope the person buying the crib is willing to pay a reasonable price…
They were.
Good to manage to sell the crib, I think I remember the post where you said you were gonna sell it
