Small garden - 1st progress crop June 2023.jpg

On Monday my new helper and I got out to this garden at 6AM and started weeding. Once that was finished, we started moving the mulch to the pile. She had to get out of the sun around 9:30 so she went to weed the East Shed garden. I managed to get ⅓ of the garden raked before I had to quit.

I never got the laundry started, just ate lunch and slept. I must get it going on Tuesday, running out of clothes…

I started on the right side and she had started on the left. She made it about halfway; I got the small garden on the end done.

The 7 Sisters rose has flowers open now.

In the New Herb garden, Row 5, the sage is flowering like crazy. It’s a gorgeous blue but the camera didn’t capture it.

In Row 1 of the New Herb garden the woad has flowered and gone to seed (right side) and is flowering again (left side).

A volunteer in the old toothache plant bed, the honesty has both seed pods and flowers now.

Now we’ve had rain, the weeds are getting bad in the New Herb garden. But I can’t tackle that until the Small garden is finished.

On Tuesday my new helper and I start at 6AM, finishing the raking, spreading amendment, and laying out the garden. My helper friend comes at 9:30 and he will feed the seedlings and then start helping in the garden. I hope to get something planted, if not mulched, probably broccoli.

I can see how keen you are in taking care of your plants. You really are a genuine gardener.

Since the rain came the weeds are everywhere. Trying to keep up with them is a full-time job. Every week a different variety shows up. This week it is purslain.

Aww, everything is looking so good, especially that lovely, lovely sage!

And I have to thank you for the get to work inspiration, I am now off to hill potatoes lol!

I feel like I"m doing washing constantly! I wish my husband woudl choose just one hoodie and stick with it all week lol.

For dirty jobs, I have 1 pair of pants. They are pretty bad by the end of the week. But I change out the rest of the clothes every day or so. My husband used to get really dirty working on the farm and on vehicles. Each Monday was 4 - 7 loads of washing. I almost never did washing on another day, unless poison ivy was involved. These days it's just 2 - 3 loads for me. I've always had the largest washer and did full loads.
