Smith Bulb Show - box at entrance crop March 2025.jpg

I went to the bulb show with an acquaintance from the Senior Center. We got there just as it opened. It was pretty close to the end of the show, as it closes on the 18th. So the scent wasn’t as intense as it is at the beginning of the show.

This box of flowers was at the door when we entered. There are 2 greenhouses devoted to the show.

They used to have themes for each show, but the last few years they have done art installations. The one on the left sort of reminded me of a harp, except some of the strings had beads on them and it formed an oval.

The first thing that struck both of us was the enormous size of the tulip flowers. They were easily 5” or more across with great deep cups. They had also heavily massed the flowers; they were very dense.

Sometimes there were small groupings of a color group and in other places it was a riot of different types of bulbs and colors and textures.

Both greenhouses have flowers along all 4 sides, plus a large center display area.

The second greenhouse has steps up to the next house and I was able to get this shot of the whole house.

The entrance to the second house had a display of Pussywillows in evergreen boughs, very pretty. There was also a huge white azalea in full bloom in one corner.

They must have just finished watering them all because many had water droplets on them.

There were a few large daffodils and one jonquil with a peculiar cup. The cup was split, not a trumpet at all, and the sections had reflexed back to the base petals.

We went around about 3 times, as there weren’t too many people. Then we headed into the other greenhouses to see what was new.

It was a lovely way to spend the morning and I am so glad I got to go.

So nice to be surrounded by colorful flowers! Some flowers look very big too.

Wow, so many gorgeous bulbs to enjoy. You really captured the feel with the photo of the entire greenhouse. It looks lovely! I wish I could grow tulips, but the deer decimate them.

All of these flowers really look so beautiful actually

The flowers all look good, especially the red tulips and the daffodils. It's certain you enjoyed the outing. Thanks for writing about it.

They have different types of flowers in that place. All the flowers are super beautiful

That's a lot of flowers for sure, kinda typical bulb flowers... Did you buy some?

They aren’t for sale any more, just to look at. In years past you could buy them after the show ended.
