Our Growing Season is coming to and "END" - Hive Garden Update Sept. 2022

Hello everyone!

There isn't really much to boast about my container garden, as some of you might have read that we had a bad start of Spring this year. All the newbie plants from the garden center were almost devastated when we were visited by one freezing night. That weather affected the growth of all my container plants until now.

One positive thing was that I made the bell pepper harvest over the weekend and although the fruit sizes vary, some are big some are small. I could not wait to have all fruits get red and it's getting chilly at night, so I picked most of the red ones and will wait for 2 weeks more before I finally clear the 2 pepper bushes.

The beefsteak tomatoes are still growing, I have harvested them bountifully and it was the only plant that has huge fruits since I was lucky to have gotten a healthy one after the frosty night.

The cherry tomato harvest were not that much but enough to have them integrated in my green salad.

Some of the green bell peppers have had sunburn when the temps last month made it between 34°C and 35°C.

As for the blackberries, I think I won't be able to really taste its sweetness. I have only harvested a few black ones but they were really sour. This variety does not have thorns, perhaps its taste got affected by its manipulation. But I am not so sure of that. Maybe I could find some answers the next time I'll be at the garden center.

The eggplant /aubergine was devastated, having plenty of parasites, and I have once told before that all buds fell off to the ground. Now it is thriving and begins to grow fruits, hopefully the fruits will develop before the chilly nights take over.

Lastly, the 2 basil plants recovered and now have plenty of leaves that I can cut and dry. I didn't notice before that they grow white flowers because I always cut the branches for cooking.

And that is for now from my container garden, I hope you all have fine weather for gardening. Until next time, stay safe.... see you around!

Wow! You have got a fresh colorful harvest dear . I love it.

Thanks a ton...next season I will try to grow better in containers and hopefully the weather will be fine and mild.

Awesome harvest Tita, You really have a gift for planting, a green thumb!
I love those beef steak pepper hmmmm, I bet they are so crunchy and sweet.
These harvests you said where affected by the not so good weather, I can't imagine what how great your yield be like if the weather is friendly and loving!☺️😍

Naku day, late comment, nakalimutan ko, lol. Yeah, I am sure that would be the case because copare to last year, here is nothing compared to the cherry tomatoes I had. But maybe next time, I will really make efforts to protect the newbie plants... Thanks darl for a lovely comment.

Thank you for sharing. I can only garden in containers, so seeing other container gardners really helps motivate me!

Yes, indeed! I learn from others, it is amazing that many people set up their small garden whether in pots or soil and harvest bountifully. Thank you.

They will make a comeback again next springtime. Meantime, enjoy them while they last.

I will ...we are leaving in a month's time so I'll let the pots be as it is..just a few more harvest and I 'll clean the balcony soon. Thanks for the visit.

Wow! You really have a perfect photography of your harvest. As if they are just infront of me and wanted to harvest, too, hahaha. Yummy harvest!

Hi @jurich60..thanks ..I hope to harvest the remaining fruits soon...it's getting colder in the night now.

Weather that is too cold or too hot will greatly affect the young plants like you are taking care of, I believe it is because several farmers have told me this and it has been proven, even if they feel the weather, their work will be maximized to keep the plants stable.
This post of yours also convinces me that young plant care is very difficult and requires maximum care to produce a large harvest.
Hopefully your plant will recover and have a good harvest in the future.

Thank you so much for dropping by. I appreciate your lovely comments. Yep, I will surely take it seriously to protect the newbie plants..

Yep, it's so good
You're welcome 🥰🥰

Tomatoes, i love adding that in salad most especially if it is still green!

Blackberries? I am not sure if that grows in our country

Thanks, appreciate you visiting my blog. Well, it might grow there in a tropical country environment ..the best thing is to try it, but keep it in a semi shaded area...

Although you unfortunately had some problems, you can also enjoy some beautiful peppers and tomatoes.

I hope that in spite of everything the eggplants can develop well. I love them!

I also hope that would be the case. But I think, had it not been for the bad start, they could have developed in Spring already... Just lke now, it is not too hot anymore and just now they have grown and have frm buds! Thanks.
