I always think it sounds great to throw those things out in the garden all winter,but my garden is quite a distance from the house, and the gate has to be kept shut so the deer don't get the idea that it's fun to go in there, even in the winter. And then the snow is too deep to open the gate, and I'd have to climb over the heaps where my husband plows the snow. So I don't throw anything out there.

Well, I see that could be quite the hassle. Maybe you could use a barrel during the winter closer to the house, then add them in the spring. ;-)
