Fruits

It was a hot day morning during Sinulog Festival we went to the Basilica Del Sto. Niño to attend the Fiesta Mass. After the crowded adventure at the church we were out and walked by the streets full of merchandise. We ate lunch at the barbeque fast food and later on walked again in the streets busy with people coming and going. We were tired and rested outside the Emall. There were vendors of green mango and it looked mouth watering just watching it. We bought one of each and enjoyed the sourness with a hint of spicy to the salt. Weew, it satisfied my taste buds. That was the time while eating the sliced mango we had decided to just go home and didn't go to the parade since the sun was to much to bear. Do you like sour unripe mango or the ripe one?

Here I had to capture this vendor of fruits at the side of the highway. This particular store caters to Koreans so there fruits are looking class A. I bet if you are local here you just admire the bounty but only to watch it. Not the place for locals to buy same kind of fruit but with the lesser price than them. I don't know why there has to be difference though. A foreigner price as we call it.

Rice cakes

The rice cake fresh from the oven at Carmen. During our last trip to the north of Cebu, we were eager to bring home some delicacies that we could share at home or at the workplace. We bought the pintos at Bogo which they are known for. We bought fruits along the way which is displayed near the highways. Finally, we reached Carmen where the bibingka is baked. We had to stopped and bought some. It is sure appetizing when its hot. People are business minded, they would sell anything to buses passengers and commuters. In the south, we have many vendors of Chicharon and Ampao which we could bring home. They are actually doing great of being industrious. Do you also notice people offering delicacies on the road? If you do then it is good to buy from them if you have money to support their livelihood.

Opon market delights

The Merkado Opon is jumpacked with lots of vendor especially on Sunday afternoon. There are much to tell about the street foods here. The tempura, squid balls and fish balls is served with cucumber and seaweed. Popular to us here are the fried foods. Fried chicken is vendors are having cooking in the middle of the street where it is closed for the purpose of accommodating people who enjoys to eat street foods. You can easily find that street when you are there. I do not have photos of it because when I was there I didn't had the guts to get my phone and had a click. There are also many barbeque vendors there, also popular. Basically barbecue and fried foods, I usually eat there after attending the six pm mass. I also enjoy the fresh fruit shakes this hot days. It is refreshing and tasty. I got here 50 pesos each small glass, just right servings.

But of course, the galletas that I like is out to the streets when at night. They are just displayed inside the store in most days. I asked the vendor why its out. They said they take the opportunity to catch more buyers when it is out at the center of the closed street. They could sell more when they do that.

There are lots of street foods out there in our local market waiting for us to discover. As for me, I enjoyed more with any kinds of fruits. I will always be delighted sorrounded with varieties of them.
How about you, what you got there in your market?

Thanks for reading, bye 🙋

Here in Cambodia we live near a casino on the Thai border, and just like you we have to be careful when we buy fruit there because the beautiful stuff along the roadside is for Chinese and Thai gamblers, and the occasional Cambodian VIP. We have to go on the side roads to find locals selling to locals.

Haha, its looks tempting to buy from them, but an alternative is also available so better find it. Chances are, they are also nearby.
