Hi, I am Arveno from Surabaya city. In this content i want to share about the last couple days flood in my city. Actually this flood is everywhere in my country like in my hometown, my mom said that the rain is really heavy and long period. And almost everywhere is flooded.
But, lets talking about my city only especially in my live area. There are river that flows into the sea near my house and you know what the river is full of trash and plastic there and even after flooded. Literally no one people here said a word about the trash. And yet many people still not have self awareness to throw thir trash into trashbin and still throwing everywhere. And i think this is serious problem for the future. And yet goverment did not doing anything. And i guess the school also just appealed not telling to separated the trash and throw into a garbage. I always telling my son and giving him example for this trash. Always throw away trash to trash can and if we are on public area, save our trash and keep it until find the trash can. But, yet my parents sometimes forgot and still have bad habbit that throwing trash outside the car. And i am afraid that will contageous to my son behaviour.
This is one of the river in my city. Full of plastic trash. And if they are clogged then the heavy rain coming. Of course even no brainer already know that it will lead to flood. But yet no one is better than no brainer. They are still throwing trash on the river. I dont know why they are still doing that. The goverment is still really nice want to cleaning this up. But, i dont think it will be a good idea. It is same like goverment cleaning up the shit of people. The people will not realized that this will be really bad for environment and can caused flood. But, even they are experiencing flood, they are blaming goverment. I admit that i dont like the goverment work. But, about this flood. I really fed up with the people especially their comment on social media, it is like they always blaming goverment wherease the trash thrower is theirself.

In my area, that place is flooded as well. But, fortunately it is not bad flood. At least my motorcycle is not drowning. But yeah it still flooded and it contains so many bacteria and can caused sick and illness. Thats why i dont write yesterday since i got flu too. Especially when rain meet up with dust from cement and rocks. It will caused infalamtion on my lungs also. Yeah near my house they are opening new cluster (the place that i want to buy the house). And yeah they are still building and i dont think it will finish soon.
So, how to solve this flood problem?
I think it should be simple and easy if only people having high tolerance and discipline.
Goverment just declaring the law that throwing trash everywhere is forbidden. And whoever break this law will get social sanctions to be a cleaner on the streets about 16-20 hours. And school starting to make this law as habbit. And for the parents i think they are need to teaching this habbit too. And if the rule breaker is people that below 18, then it should make the parents bear the consequences.
And yet, my country dont even do that.
They are still busy to corrupt in everyway and did not think about the future of their country.
I think it's both as long as people doesn't care about little things such as proper waste disposal then the problem continues to exist the government must implement strict policies or laws regarding garbage disposal so that people will observe it to avoid fines or penalties.

I'm not sure if your government has the same issue of corruption about flood control projects here in our country we have that as the major problem with billions of pesos only enjoyed by the crocodiles the corrupt officials, people also who has no discipline adds to the problem if the government the people and officials will follow waste management just like in Japan

Sadly, corruption is widespread worldwide that even in 1st world countries it also exist no exemption but I think Philippines has the worst case ever 🙁
