You see, not everyone grow up at the same pace. Here's my story. I have delayed growth syndrome (unofficially). Although I'm already a fully grown man, but deep down in my heart, that 12 year old me still deciding decisions recklessly most of the time.
Having young children growing up together with smart phone era, I believe many of you heard of Talking Tom, ana idiotic character of digital petting.
My Tom has been with us many years, the stupid cat went through many different transformation. We gave him instant grow up potion where it grow up very quickly.
But then when it grow too big, it looses the cuteness. So we gave him reverse potion, and Tom shrunk to become a baby.
We understand free lunch doesn't taste good, and usually we need to work for it, so as the game. Despite being FREE, there's so many in-app purchase and advertisements. Even Tom goes to toilet, player will have to watch an Ad before they can let us bath him.
Just when you think you're smart enough, not going to pay anything for the game, so it's technically still "free" in a way, in exchange it takes aa lot of your time waiting for the ads to reward play time.
When you try to feed the cat, you need to spend some in game token to purchase food. Afraid not, if you don't want to spend money in playing, once again, there's always an ad to watch, then you'll get some food for the cat.
When you play mini game(game in game) with Tom, and there's an ad during game over. You're entitled to a gift once you complete the advertisement. There will be minimum amount of time stay in the video before reward is granted.
Usually, there's mini game that will win you some in game tokens, which allow you to buy new outfits for Tom, or even win a new mini game so you can keep Tom entertained.
Well, if you accidentally lose the game, and looking for a resume button just like pulling out a quarter at the arcade when you lost a street fighter match, you use that quarter to hit the continue button so you don't loose your progress. The difference in Talking Tom is, watch an AD, you're entitled to continue. Trust me, every time when I decide enough is enough, I just want to lose the mini game and put Tom to sleep, so I will usually X the continue window. And guess what, redirect to the ads, force me to watch it even if I don't want to continue the mini game 😅
After the minimum time on Ad, finally I get to hit the X button, but then again, a pop up window took me to Shopee, online shopping platform. Dude, this is seriously sick. This has become ads in ads. When you're force to watch an Ad, and closing that Ad requires you to watch an Ad 😅
And not forgetting Tom best fried, which is a pet dog on line by the name of Hank. Wait... Suddenly reminds me of Detroit Become Human 😂 anyway, talking Hank is yet another petting game character that works similarly to Tom.
The amount of time I spent on this game is getting ridiculously long nowadays, with so many ads in the way. I used to spend like 5 minutes a day, feed the cat, play with it for a while, take the cat to the loo, even give the cat a digital shower, now it takes like 50 minutes. Sometimes when I'm playing with the mini game, I'm so good at it that I will spend more time to break my own record.
And then, soon as the game stopped, I will have to watch an ad. No matter what function I use, watch and ad. I mean, come on. I know these stuff are unproductive, but we all play game for 1 goal, to release stress. Now, this crappy feeling of building up stress to lose stress is totally outrageous.
Congratulations to my talking tom for attaining level 113 today. It's also a sad day which I have decided to obliterate the game. I'd rather spend more time in Hive for engaging and writing article. So much better than watching an Ad and someone is profiting from me browsing.

I used to play with talking tom a lot when I was younger. It was so funny to see it repeat what I say and the people around me too. I would turn it on while my parents talk then replay back to them 😂 Then I switched to another similar app called Pau. Mine grew large and became an adult. Although they are virtual pets, it is still sad to let them go when we grow attached to them.
Absolutely my friend. It's hard to let go, but the ads is getting out of hand lately. It's like every time I tap on something, I need to watch an ad first. In the end, if I played it for 1 hour, I think 55 minutes I'm watching useless and pointless ads.
