This week, I invite you to step back in time : Hoi An Old Town : Vietnam : 1 of 2 posts
Happy Friday, my blogging buddies!
It's time to go back to the past with this week's blog prompt. We're all aware that time passes quickly, but it may be time to take a look back into the past since this week's blog post is pretty much about that. What's changed in your life in the last year? The last five years? The last 25 years? One of the most subtle yet significant changes in your life is how you will reach people. Have you noticed that you reach out to people more often than ever before? Thanks to the internet, we no longer have to meddle with those pesky and persistent phone calls and we can just hit up social media and be done with it.
At this time I want to go further back in time, to the Old Town in Hoi An, Vietnam. With the rainy season here and with tourism still on the low, it's a great time to explore the old city before tourism comes back, to see the streets' bear, to see the river beaching it banks and consuming the city streets.
This is the first post of two episodes of a recent adventure to Hoi An to visit the city again. If you follow my posts, you know that I have spent some time here, about six months since I first getting to Vietnam. So it has a bit of nostalgia for me to walk the streets again.
I hope you enjoy some of these daily photos!
The Daily Photos :
The first photo is looking at the old bridge. This is one of the old bridges in the city and a tourist destination, as you can tell with the people on the far side of the bridge taking photos of themselves.
Inside on the middle of the bridge is this shrine. I can only assume it is for good luck.
This is the entrance way into that particular shrine.
Turning around and looking out through the slats on the bridge, you can see the river at its banks, It has receded since last time, and has overflowed those edges.
The wood also has that feeling of being an old antique, something that many feet have walked upon yet stands strong. I wonder what stories the wood can tell, of its life as a tree, then being implanted here for how long?? They forgot.
Outside the bridge, local sit and fish in the water, waiting for the tourists to come back again
Here you can see the sidewalk disappearing into the river. While sad, it is also beautiful.
The city still has its hidden alleyways, and corners to discover.
One of my favorite elements of the city is the old walls. Walls have been overtaken by nature, yet the bricks and the buildings still stand. The history that the bricks must've seen, and what muddy riverbank were they pulled from...
With the water so high, the reflection was so clear today.
For the last photo it is looking at the far side of the bridge. Such a picturesque place to hang out.
My blogging buddies, it should go without saying, but I'll say it anyways, you know I have much love for you and respect. Also, I do beg your forgiveness if I haven't responded to comments lately, I've been struggling with balancing my new workload with my life and while I do enjoy responding to comments, my mental bandwidth to do so is becoming increasingly thin... I hope the balances out soon.
Again, thank you very much for taking the time, and hope to see you back here again tomorrow!
- Cheers

Awesome shots, that bridge is so small but so full of character and life, and you're right, I bet if it could speak, it would have quite a story to tell. You're a talented photographer, and it clearly shows in your work. There's almost no better feeling than discovering a gem in an alleyway. One of my favorite eateries in Cambodia is located in a very similar looking alley.
