From Diapers to Deadlines to Dictionaries: My Life in Three Acts
My alarm clock screams, and I'm jolted into "Mom Mode." Two little ones need breakfast, then it's a whirlwind of getting them dressed, packed, and out the door.
After getting ready and their father takes them to school on his motorbike, I feed our very cute dog “Star” and also our pig.
I just walk to the office; it’s very close, only 15-200 steps from my house.
By 8 am, I'm at the office, tackling deadlines and emails, all the while replaying the "don't forget your lunchbox" mantra in my head. Thankfully, I don’t have to go home for lunch anymore because there’s free food at the office. It’s a huge time and energy and saver, and I don’t have to walk home and back.
Come evening, after a quick dinner and bedtime stories, I transform into "Teacher Mode."
My living room becomes a classroom, filled with eager faces learning English. I love seeing the spark in their eyes as they grasp new concepts, and it's a rewarding way to end the day.
Being a mom, employee, and ESL teacher is a juggling act, a constant balancing of duties and passions. There are moments of sheer exhaustion, where I crave a few minutes of quiet. But then, a child's hug, a successful presentation, or a student's "thank you" remind me why I do it. It's not always easy, but it's fulfilling. I'm a firm believer in embracing the chaos. My life is a tapestry woven with different threads, each one adding color and texture. And as I navigate this rollercoaster of roles, I learn something new every day, not just about teaching or working, but also about myself, my resilience, and the power of love.
