Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. In this post, I want to share papaya salad (Somtam). But it's a local style papaya salad in northern Thailand. Two days ago, my wife's relatives came to visit us at our house. And my wife also cooks with her relatives. They cook simple foods. One of all the foods they cook is papaya salad. But the papaya salad they made this time was a local northern style papaya salad. And I just saw and ate it for the first time too. So I want to share it with everyone.
Start making papaya salad. Of course my wife harvested some ingredients from the home garden first. There are many papaya trees in the home garden. She harvested just one papaya to make papaya salad. And she also harvests ginger from the home garden for this dish. Look at the atmosphere in the our home garden first.

The wife's relatives also harvest tamarind and lemons from her house.

Ingredients for this dish

1. papaya
2. ginger
3. tamarind
4. lemons
5. sugar
6. dried chilli
7. garlic
8. fermented fish sauce
9. MSG

The ingredients for local northern style papaya salad are different from other regions namely the addition of ginger and tamarind. But makeing it is the same as other regions. So I don't have a recipe for this dish in this post. Because I've shared papaya salad before in my other old posts. But it is papaya salad style from other regions. And I took photos of the making for this dish. Take a look.

I would love to have some papayas! The flood killed all our papaya trees in the garden. It’s very healthy to have your own organic garden.
