Travel to Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai, Thailand, Part 11 : Visit Wat Rong Ha Luang.

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY15 days ago

Hello everyone.😊 My wife and I's trip to Mae Ai district last month. I still have the temples we visited and I still have some temples that I haven't shared with everyone yet. Even though I have shared the 9 temples in this district from last month's trip with everyone in other old posts. We visited both large and small temples. But this post is a small temple in a rural community. This temple is called Wat Rong Ha Luang.

Interesting brief information about the temple. Wat Rong Ha Luang is not famous. And not many people know about this temple. The temple is common monastery in Rong Ha Luang village. There is no information about when the temple was built. But this temple was allowed to be established as a temple in 1936 or 88 years ago. And there is no information about the royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree of this temple. In addition, Wat Rong Ha Luang was praised as a model development temple in AD 1995 too.

Journey to Wat Rong Ha Luang.

My wife and I don't know this temple. That day I was driving around on a rural road in Mae Ai District. And we see this temple. We were happy and immediately stopped by the temple.

The atmosphere in Wat Rong Ha Luang.

When we arrived at this temple. The first thing we see and interesting was the entrance arch to the temple. Large wooden arch, built in Lanna style, looks beautiful and unique. And on the pillars of the wall under the entrance arch there are also two lion statues.

When we enter the temple. Most of the area is the large courtyard. There is a large buddha image hall (viharn) on the courtyard. But there is no ordination hall (ubosot). Of course, this temple is built and decorated in Lanna style like other temples in northern Thailand. There are beautiful stucco patterns on the doors and windows. And the front of the buddha image hall (viharn) is also decorated with beautiful stucco patterns and oil paintings too. The entrance staircase of this buddha image hall (viharn) is distinctive with the 5-headed serpent staircase.

Behind the buddha image hall (viharn) is a large pagoda. The foundation of this pagoda is circular. And there is a staircase leading up to the pagoda which is a serpent staircase. The white pagoda is polyhedral in shape, decorated with gold color patterns, with a gold color polyhedral bell-shaped top and gold color chatra. Additionally, there are statues of the 12 Thai zodiac around the pagoda too.

On the side there is a bell tower. This bell tower has 2 floors. Which is a bell tower made of bricks coated with cement, decorated with beautiful stucco patterns.

The courtyard also has the small pavilions and a large pavilion. And inside these pavilions there is the buddha images.

In addition, the inside of the large pavilion is decorated with oil paintings about buddhism too.

These are the stories and photos I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to see and enjoy my stories and photos. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye 🤗

I'm trying to say anything negative about the area's people but the road leading to the temple looks terrible. This is something I have noticed about almost all temples in Thailand. The surrounding area just looks very dirty but the temple itself is a wonderful respite of silence and beauty. I guess that is part of the reason why I like temples so much.
