My First Time Blood Transfusion in my Life

Hello everyone my dear ASEAN hivers! It's a been awhile I have no post because I had problem with my health condition.

Medical Check-up_20250430_141013_0000.png

Last week I went for medical check-up in Cebu Provincial Hospital here in Carcar City. Before a week ago I felt dizziness so I decided to consult a doctor, I suspected it was related with My PCOS or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I arrived at the hospital around 11 am and I waited for several hours for my name to be called. Since it is a public hospital there are lots of patients in line waiting for their turn.

It's already 12 o clock in the afternoon but still my name hasn't called yet and one staff announced that those names are not yet called will take their lunch and come back right after. I stepped out a bit and looking for something to refresh, since is very hot that day and I found a small cafe and I bought cold lemon tea and German bread.

After I ate I went back to the hospital and after an hour finally my name was called. When I entered the consultation room I explained my symptoms to the attending physician. She is requesting me to have Complete Blood Count or CBC and urinalysis to determine the cause of my dizziness. I went to the laboratory room and follow the procedures they had given me. As, expected in public busy hospital I had to wait again for almost two hours for the result of my tests. In the waiting area I initiate conversation with other patients to ease the boredom, scrolling social media platform while waiting for the time.

Once I received the result, I immediately returned to the doctor for her interpretation. She informed me that my hemoglobin level was dangerously low, the dizziness I had been feeling was likely due to anemia- a condition where the body doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to the tissues. She told me that my condition is critical enough to requires immediate medical intervention and recommended that I undergo a blood transfusion as soon as possible.

Hearing that I needed a transfusion was a bit shocking because this would be my first time. Before going home, I processed the necessary steps for my blood transfusion scheduled for the following day. They scheduled me as an Outpatient Transfusion which means I did not need to admitted. I was relieved to know that I could return home after the procedure.

I was grateful that I had chosen to seek medical help before my condition worsened. I now realize how important it is to listen to our bodies and seek medical attention early. That's all for today. Thank you for dropping by. Keep safe everyone.

I'm really glad to hear that they had blood available in your type. Sometimes it can be so difficult to find a match, even in blood banks. It’s a blessing that everything aligned for you to get the treatment you needed in time. Take care.😍

Yes I am very grateful that there was available blood in the laboratory, I'm really glad that those blood were compatible to me.

Sending you Ecency curation votes.😉

Thank you for the support.

Its good thing that you seek medical attention. Thats something is not right than make it worse. Hope your health will be more ok soon. Take care of yourself 🥰

Thank you, I had my CBC last Thursday and my hemoglobin is already 10, the doctor prescribed to take multivitamins with iron and I'm okay now.

Thats good to know. Stay healthy. 🥰

Let's always take care of our body because that's our wealth.

Agree health is wealth, we will not take for granted what we feel in our body, prevention is better than cure.

oh, it must have been a frightening experience.. I got scared for you there upon reading about the need for a blood transfusion.. It's great you took action right away.. I've had my own health scares before and I know how important it is to listen to your body even if it's tough and terrifying.. I hope the transfusion went smoothly and you're feeling better now.. Take care of yourself and I wish you a speedy recovery my dear @toniagurl27 .. 🙏

Yes I am afraid of blood transfusion but I had to, I'm okay now mg hemoglobin is already 10 and continue taking my multivitamins.
