Waiting For My Flight While Dinner at Ahh-Yum by Kampong Kravers

Hello ASEAN Buddies...

This is one of my #Hivefest travel stories in Kuala Lumpur and it was my last day in Kuala Lumpur. After checking out from Kingston Hotel, my roommate and I headed to the airport by bus at 3 pm. We arrived there around 5 pm. Aswita's flight was earlier, around 6 pm, while I was still 3 hours away from her flight. In the middle of the wait, I decided to enjoy culinary delights in Kuala Lumpur for the last time this year.

While waiting for my flight, I stopped at Ahh-yum restaurant because it had spacious and relatively quiet seating, and they also had nasi lemak and teh tarik (pulled tea) on the menu. Honestly, during my time in Kuala Lumpur, I was completely enamored with Teh Tarik (Milk Tea). There's plenty of milk tea in Indonesia, but for some reason, drinking milk tea in Kuala Lumpur feels more authentic.

So here I am, in the Ahh-Yum by Kampong Kravers...

Strategic location

Ahh-Yum Restaurant is strategically located at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. After passing through immigration, before reaching your gate, you will see many restaurants on the 2nd floor. You can choose what kind of food you want to eat there. I chose Ahh-Yum not only because of its quiet location, but also because the name of the restaurant when pronounced will sound like 'Ayam' (chicken). Then this restaurant is also close to the restroom and prayer room, so it was very easy for me to see this restaurant compared to the others.

Ahh-Yum Resto offers a wide variety of traditional dishes. The Nasi Lemak menu alone offers so many variations, I was confused about which one to choose. The main difference lies in the toppings.

After much deliberation, I finally ordered Nasi Lemak to accompany my Tea Tarik.

The Nasi Lemak that I ordered was the original Nasi Lemak which contained the Nasi Lemak itself with Kalasan chicken, peanuts, anchovies, egg pieces and cucumber slices.

The Nasi Lemak I ordered was the original nasi lemak, which consisted of the nasi lemak itself, Kalasan chicken, peanuts, anchovies, egg slices, and cucumber slices.

The portion of Nasi Lemak was quite large, so—again, I'd say it was quite generous, considering my usual small portions. In the end, I couldn't finish the large portion of chicken.

The only thing missing was the Tea Tarik… I emphasized.

I usually like to order something iced, but this time, for some reason, I wanted to try hot tea tarik. While the hot version is usually a small portion, the ambient temperature was already low, so it took a while to bring the tea tarik to normal temperature. So, I quickly finished it, leaving not a drop left.

When I travel, I'm not usually a foodie. When I went to Singapore last year, I managed to order biryani for two meals, because the portions were so large. This time, the portion of nasi lemak was so large that I couldn't finish it, leaving 25% left over. It wasn't that I didn't try, but my stomach was already so full. If I forced myself, I might have vomited. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this short wait at Ahh-Yum Restaurant.

If you are in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport right now, I recommended to you to stopped by and taste their menu then let me know how it is?!

Hasta La Vista...

Hi, Halo, Annyeong! Welcome to my galaxy.

I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of those are romance.
Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author, traveler wannabe, and blogger.

This post actually got me learned new things. Now I know the thing we called Ayam Rempah is Kalasan Chicken in Indo 🤣

One thing about the teh tarik is, we're deeply influenced by the local Indians, especially Mamak. We use GoldCoin evaporated milk mix with sweeten condensed milk. That way, the evaporated milk can dilute the sweetness of the condensed milk, at the same time maintain the foaming structure to create the false sensation of "smoothness" when we drink "bubbles" 🤣 don't tell them I teach you this trick. Basically, all Malaysian knows about the trick, it's just that we all thought we know something others don't and treat it as a secret recipe to make good pulled tea.

Wow, you told me something I don't know. I once felt that this Teh Tarik was a bit similar to Masala Tea, apparently they do have the same origin. Now I know why I head over heels about the malay tea tarik, because the taste close to Tea Masala. I love Tea Masala and that tea is one thing that I want to drink in KL.
