Last Christmas, I and my co workers were too busy to have an exchange gifts and moved it to late January instead. The date was never set but one of my colleagues insisted to do it on January 29th or never so we made it happen despite th pay was never given to us yet.
It was a typical Wednesday morning and we were busy with our works, I was very busy not getting lat in the morning that is why I did not have the chance to pass bya store and buy, Cheryl on the other hand had wrapped her gift already and Jane was volunteering to buy the gift in Alae.
Noon came all of a sudden and there were still 4 of us that had not bought gift yet, but Fonzy volunteered to go with thm using his car and he also bought us lunch! I thought it was only pure exchange gifts, but there is food as well.
I am very thankful to Mary Jane for her wonderful spirit. She bought me a pillow for gifting and a bag as well.
Fonzy generously bought puso, rice wrapped and coocked inside a banana leaf formed into diamond, and two roasted chickens and he put it all for us to share. It was a simple but memorable lunch filled with laughter and jokes, we all helped set the table, even finding utensils for us to use and luckily, we found some plates and spoon, washed them and let our colleagues use them.
After our lunch, we washed the utensils we used and started the exchange gifts. Paula printed numbers, there were only 8 of us who joined.
There were only 8 gifts at the table and I got the number six. Jane got number 1 so she was the one to get hers and opened Infront of everyone. She got an extension wire which she said would be very useful at her home. It was from Jenny.
Jenny got number 2 which was mine, she got the pillow and will be very useful for her son who is just 1 year old.
Paula got neck pillow and toothbrush set which Gerson had
Gerson got a chopping board and back scratcher which Irene has prepared
Then Irene got a night perfume and a mini fan from Paula.
I got a pillow from Mary Jane, and a hair clip too.
The luckiest was Cheryl who got a 1000 peso bill from Fonzy, she never expected this to happen and was all smiles for a while.
Fonzy got an organizer from Cheryl and it fits for his worktable organizer.
We took pictures holding our received gifts, the was a frame where I am in but the photo got an error and was not saved on the phone.
It was a quick and simple experience but a memorable one and better one than what we had last year where there were people who were not able to get gifts because some people did not come to the agreed date and time.
I enjoyed the gift i received and brought it home where my family could use also.
This was a wonderful experience for me.
Do you like exchanging gifts? What are your experiences with it?
I've been part of employee gift exchanges. It can be a lot of fun. Most of ones I've been part of have been "gag" gifts. Which brings a lot of laughter sometimes. It's been a few years since I've participated though.
