Aloha my friends from SurfHive!
I've been away over the last couple months, mostly because I was in Fernando de Noronha, an island with not much internet access but plenty of great barrels, as you can see :)

Fernando de Noronha is a piece of paradise located in Northeast of Brazil, in the state of Pernambuco. The island is known as the "Brazilian Hawaii", and I had the privilege of spending few weeks there from January 2023 until late March 2023. In this post I will share some thoughts around the experience and photos of the biggest surfing day of the season.

I was there all this time working for Surfguru, analyzing forecasts, doing partnerships with local businesses, covering the Hang Loose Pro WQS and creating content as a free surfer.
Huge thanks to Gnars DAO, Tembo Seguros, Grupo Ecocharme , Restaurante Fernão El Loco and Restaurante Maré for supporting me during the season.
If you are a Surfer in Brazil, Noronha is the place to be from January until March. It was a great pleasure to live this experience.

January surf wasn't great until the 12th. The first two weeks were slow. Waves got better on the second half of the month, and February and March were just epic months. Offshore winds were constant, NNW (North-Northwest) swells were coming every week.
From Feb 28th until March 5th we had the Hang Loose Pro WQS. The forecast was awesome and in March 2nd we had a 12-15 foot day. It was the biggest day of the season and one of the biggest swells in the past years in the island.

Fernando de Noronha é um pedaço do paraíso localizado no Nordeste do Brasil, no estado de Pernambuco. A ilha é conhecida como o "Havaí brasileiro", e tive o privilégio de passar algumas semanas lá de janeiro de 2023 até o final de março de 2023. Neste post, compartilharei algumas reflexões sobre a experiência e fotos do maior dia de surfe da temporada.

Eu estive lá esse tempo trabalhando para o Surfguru, analisando previsões, fazendo parcerias com empresas locais, cobrindo o Hang Loose Pro WQS e criando conteúdo como free surfer.

As ondas em janeiro não foram tão boas até o dia 12. As primeiras duas semanas foram fracas. As ondas melhoraram na segunda metade do mês, e fevereiro e março foram meses épicos. Os ventos offshore foram constantes, as ondulações NNW (Norte-Noroeste) estavam chegando toda semana.
De 28 de fevereiro a 5 de março, tivemos o Hang Loose Pro WQS. A previsão foi incrível e, em 2 de março, tivemos um dia de 12-15 pés. Foi o maior dia da temporada e uma das maiores ondulações dos últimos anos na ilha.
