Wandering Washington

Reckon it's #wednesdaywalk time again but with heat warnings in effect I'm spending it indoors. It's not quite as bad here as what the UK is getting (@dandays does it feel like Tennessee there yet?) but we'll get there in a day or two. Anyways, these are from a series of of walks in Washington DC back in the spring when it was a bit more temperate out.

You got to watch your step in Washington, there's a lot of open holes. Then again the whole city kind of resembles that remark, it used to be a literal swamp and now it's just a figurative one.

Does it get more patriotic than paddle boating on the Tidal Basin? What I really want to know though is who looked at this and thought "What the Tidal Basin really needs is paddle boat rentals!"

Sometimes you go to a museum for the exhibits and stay for the people.

Abandoned strollers are perfectly normal right? Not the work of the adrenochrome bandits?

Does it even count as visiting DC if you don't at least catch a glimpse of the nation's most famous phallic symbol? Can't decide if they were trying to honor George Washington or not so subtly suggest that he was a monumental dick.

Height limits keep the buildings on the squat, blocky side, makes for lots of fun lines to shoot.

I wonder if he's one toke over the line? That's enough walking for one Wednesday, time to catch the last train out of here.

Sort:

TN?! Laugh Out Loud. Not even close! We can't help but laugh about it.

I even went through some of chops.support comment section where he's bathing his dog and was going back and forth with a couple people. They said things like "people are gonna die," that's a direct quote, can't make this stuff up.

They stopped the trains here dude—fact. 24 hours of some sunlight and the whole country acts like Vitamin D is a new virus. The ladies in the check out line at the store yesterday were going on and on and on and on about it, one even said she kept the kids home from school. It's real tough not to chime in like 'you know there's a whole planet out there that experiences 90 degree weather for months on end, right?' Cool thing is (no pun) we got in a 5 mile walk and had the whole city to ourselves. Everything was closed of course, I wish I was making that up, like everything, even pubs! Doors locked - lights out.

Back to normal today—60 degrees and raining.

That was a mouthful.

Excellent photos per usual sir, never disappointing. That corridor shot of the fellas on that bench.... awesome.

He puts out a top comment 😅

🤣🤣🤣

That's fucking funny. I guess 'only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun' died with Kipling...

people are gonna die

Yeah, we just call that July. Hell this year most of June was like that too. Did y'all get much humidity or was it that dry heat?

Thank you sir!

No humidity. Doesn't really do that here. Just enough sunshine to send the whole country in a panic.

No humidity, that'd be nice. Well, if it wasn't 60 and raining instead. Lol, a few years back the Royal Navy built themselves some fancy new warships and then discovered that if they sailed them anywhere warm they broke down. Beginning to see a pattern here...

Very sensible to revisit and older walk and stay out of the heat, its not as hot here as other places but for me far to hot for walks during the day witht he sun beating down onus

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Yeah, I've spent more than enough time outside in this sort of weather already, if I can avoid it I intend to. Out of curiosity, how does the weather here compare to NZ?

Yes me to over the years in my travels in Asias the Middle East and Africa

As fir NZ I haven’t lived there fir over 30 years but that said the weather in NZ is a lot milder fir the most part does not have the extreme heat or cold

A monumental dick sounds about right 🤣

These sounds about right. Picture perfect images these 👏
Enjoying the wee bit of humor too
The kind of thing @dandays is notorious for 😏

Ha, glad you enjoyed it!
Thank your sir!
@dandays notorious, I don't believe it! 🤣

Great captures @coloneljethro
Yes, better stay inside with crazy weather. It’s everywhere a bit warm…
