It's a great day for monomads!

I just found out that I'm working for yet another crazyperson.
And I'm just a contractor.
I don't even answer to her.
I was trying to respect her title as manager just to be polite but it turns out she's not actually the manager of anybody, that she made the title up herself. Found this out when the owner of the clinic called me to check in about a situation in which she (the fake manager) sent a scathing text message to the office manager (the real manager) at 9pm, on behalf of an employee who had no idea someone else was fighting a false battle for her.

Farmhouse? More like Madhouse.
Well maybe it's not that bad.
Still, it's like, I just wanna work, dude. I just wanna show up and treat patients and make people feel better and then go home and live my own life without getting text messages about how we're supposed to fold the sheets, or phone calls while I'm on my way to work because I'm not as early as the fake manager wants me to be.
I don't want to feel like I'm on my guard. Like I'm at the bottom of the food chain.

For chissakes I'm contractor!! Just leave a sticky note.

In other news, fall is almost here. The days are still hot, but the nights are getting cooler. Of course, if you're in Portland that also means smoke season is coming. Endless days of smoke pooling into the geological pocket that is my beautiful city.
I spit in your face, climate change.

But all in all things aren't bad, really. My PUA claim expires next week but I've been getting more and more work coming in so I think I'm gonna make it after all, just like Mary Tyler Moore.
And next month is October and me and this guy are gonna have a birthday.

And we get to go camping on our favorite island again.

And soon we'll have leaf changes and crisp air and rain and rainy city walks and giant flocks of crows following us around.

I would say I can't complain, really, but I can and I just did and it felt good.

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge, held daily in the Black and White Community.
It's also my #fridayfreewrite which is a cool idea that @coloneljethro came up with.
Give it a try. All of it. It feels good.

“But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."

I think I've figured it out, we've somehow been teleported into Alice in Wonderland. Fake managers fighting false battles, yep, it all checks out.

Love the photos! You beat me to getting this Friday's post up 😎 What island is it that you go camping on?

I automatically assume that anyone who says they can't complain is putting on a front. Besides it's too cathartic not to.

It all adds up!

San Juan Island, I'm pretty sure it was one of the smudges in the smoke I saw from Port Angeles a few years back. Strangely enough, that was also the last place anyone offered me mushrooms for microdosing 😎 Is there much in the way of decent camping there?

Nice, good ol' Tom Waits!

Port Angeles is beautiful, too.
There's good camping on all the islands (Orcas, Lopez, Shaw), but the only place I've camped is the San Juan County Campground. It's RIGHT on the water overlooking Haro Strait. I've seen orcas in the distance, and even heard their blows (Thar she blows!) at night when they were fishing. I could try other camp spots, but I really don't want to. It's basically like my vacation home, but considerably less expensive and I don't have to pay property tax.

I only spent one day in Port Angeles but I would have loved to have spent more time there. It was 'raining' ash when I was there though.

That sounds like my kind of vacation home. I camped in the sliver of Olympic National Park that's right on the Pacific Ocean, aside from the orcas it sounds like your spot. I loved it there, even if visibility was so shitty I could barely take photos.

Your photos are magnificent, you have the soul of an artist

Awwww thank you so much!!! I'm glad to know my soul shines through in my work.

Yay! 🤗
