The cemetery in my village is not really a beautiful place, it is rather neglected and the memorial structures that stand there are usually not very nice.

In fact, old abandoned tombs with deteriorated tombstones and crosses converge here, together with small individual cemeteries of recent date, built in a rather unpleasant style to my eyes.

However, as is the case with almost every corner of this town where I live, when it is a bit foggy the cemetery takes on an air of mystery and dramatic abandonment.

So in recent days I took advantage of that kind of cloudy weather at dawn and went there armed with my camera and my fixed 35mm lens.

Technical note: The photos were taken with my old Nikon D3100 camera and a AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G prime lens, all the captures were taken in RAW format and processed with Adobe Camera RAW, where light, contrast, clarity, sharpening were adjusted as if the photos were taken for colour. Once they were ready, we used the grayscale tool and adjusted the brightness colour by colour... The resulting JPG was then processed with Photo Scape, where the depth was adjusted, vignettes and brightness points were added at will, a 1% yellow fade layer was also added, then the contrast levels were adjusted again and a final desaturation of -45% was done to move away from sepia and towards that "vintage black and white" that I thought was appropriate for the theme of the photos. Finally some cropping, horizon straightening and adding watermarks were done.
Nota técnica: Las fotos fueron realizadas con mi vieja cámara Nikon D3100 y un lente fe focal fija AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G, todas las capturas hechas en formato RAW y procesadas con Adobe Camera RAW, en donde se ajustaron luz, contraste, claridad, afilado como si se tratase de hacer las fotos para color. Una vez listas así, se usó la herramienta de paso a escala de grises y ajuste de luminosidad color por color... El JPG resultante se procesó después con Photo Scape, en donde se ajustó las profundidad, se agregaron viñetas y puntos de luminosidad a discreción, también se agregó una capa de atenuación de color amarillo al 1%, posteriormente se volvieron a ajustar los niveles de contraste y se hizo una desaturación final de -45% para alejarnos del sepia y acercarnos a ese "blanco y negro tipo vintage" que me pareció apropiado para la temática de las fotos. Finalmente se hicieron algunos recortes, enderezamientos de horizonte y agregado de marcas de agua. "We make photographs to understand what our lives mean to ourselves." - Ralph Hattersley. Oh wow my friend there is no better color than black and white to show the cemetery, it is a very difficult subject in photography I think, but you did a great job and I'm impressed with the two tall trees in the middle of the cemetery.
