Professional Gym Portraits - Monomad Challenge.

Last Monday, I started going to a new gym for the first time in my life, and to my surprise, the trainer there is a friend from many years ago. After talking for a while, he told me he admired my photography work, and I finally offered to do a photography session that could benefit both of us. We coordinated a day and brought our idea to life.

For this photography session, I had the type of lighting and atmosphere I wanted very clearly in mind. The first photography I took was this one, while testing the light. I liked it so much that I ended up keeping it:

El lunes pasado empecé a ir a un nuevo gimnasio por primera vez en mi vida y para mi sorpresa el entrenador del lugar es un amigo de muchos años atras, hablando un rato me dijo que admiraba mi trabajo fotografico y finalmente le ofrecí hacer un una sesion de fotos que nos pudiera beneficiar a ambos, coordinamos un dia y hicimos realidad nuestra idea.

Para esta sesion de fotos yo tenia muy claro el tipo de iluminacion y ambiente que deseaba y la primera foto que tomé fue esta, mientras probaba la luz, me gustó tanto que termine guardandola:

And then we started the real session. For this first part, we wanted to simulate him doing a leg day routine:

Y luego empezamos la verdadera sesion, para esta primera parte quisimos simular que el estaba haciendo dia de pierna:

I came up with the idea of taking a photography through the weights, and I can say the result was one of my favorites of the day:

Se me ocurrió hacer una foto a traves de los discos y puedo decir que el resultado fue uno de mis favoritos del dia:

It's very curious, but even though the photography is quite dark with lots of shadows (which was intentional), we were actually using up to 3 light sources to illuminate exactly the places we wanted.

Es muy curioso pero aunque la foto esté bastante oscura con bastantes negros (lo que fue intencional) de hecho estabamos usando hasta 3 puntos de luces, para poder iluminar exactamente los lugares que queriamos.

At this point, my friend changed clothes, and we moved on to the next part of the photography session. Since he was wearing a sleeveless shirt, we proceeded to give more attention to the arms.

En este punto mi amigo hizo un cambio de ropa y pasamos a la siguiente parte de la sesion de fotos, como estaba usando una camiseta sin mangas procedimos a darle mas atencion a los brazos.

In this part, we simulated an arm routine day:

Throughout this entire photography session, I always paid special attention to shooting from the shadow side. That way, an interesting atmosphere and contrast are created.

En toda esta sesion de fotos siempre presté especial atencion a disparar desde el lado de la sombra, de esa manera se crea una atmósfera y contraste interesante.

Next outfit change, this time with a hoodie to give a tougher look.

Siguiente cambio de ropa, esta vez con un hoodie para dar un aspecto mas rudo.

The photography through the discs had turned out so spectacularly that we wanted to repeat it with this outfit:

La foto a traves de los discos habia quedado tan espectacular que quisimos repetirla con este outfit:

I took all the photographs with my Canon R8 camera, a 50mm f/2.2 lens, and I used 3 light sources for illumination.

I must admit that this has been one of the photography sessions I am most proud of. The results came out exactly as I had imagined, and they looked incredible. I hope you like them as much as we did!

Todas las fotos las tomé con mi camara Canon R8, un lente 50mm 2.2/f y de iluminacion utilicé 3 puntos de luces.

Debo admitir que esta ha sido una de las sesiones de fotos de las que mas orgulloso me siento, los resultados salieron tal cual como los tenia imaginado y quedaron increibles, espero que a ustedes les gusten tanto como a nosotros!
