Hello everyone! There are places which you love from the moment you set foot on them.
One of these places which I’d love to revisit is Sicily
Although there are touristic aspects of this Italian region, I think there is some uniqueness and power in its soils
Most probably that’s because one connects to ancient Italy therefore feels small and powerless
There is so much history here
Sicily is not cocky, sophisticated yes, arrogant no
Despite the history
Despite the beauty
Despite the simplicity
It remains a beacon of ancient Italy and Greece thus reminding us of Magna Grecia
There are places preserved with specific dialects (Ionian or Doric)
and ancient greek names of places: Syracuse (Gr Συρακούσες), Messina (Gr Μεσσήνη), Palermo (Gr Πάνορμον), Agrigento (Gr Ακράγαντας), Taormina (Gr Ταυρομένιον), Catania (Gr Κατάνη), Ragusa (Gr Ραγούσα) and more
If you want to visit a place combining the Yesterday and the Today this might be it!

I think that Italy is much more beautiful because they have managed to maintain a lot of ancient things in very good shape, while Greece is self-destructive and also has had more historical problems such as the ottoman conquer for centuries...
But Greece is more ancient than Italy... ;-)

I am sure listening/reading about war is much much easier than living it. I wish there is piece soon but I think your region has not seen real piece for centuries as it is the wishful thinking of three (to say the least) greatest religions worldwide.. everyone will want/wants to own it...and the casualties are poor people and children most of the times.. 🙏
