Tbilisi Windows for #Monomad Challenge

in Black And Whitelast year

10 images of windows of different eras and functions from Tbilisi, Georgia.

1

Windows of a withered wooden balcony, twisted with time and bad weather. It hangs over the street like a heavy wooden belly that threatens to flop onto the pavement any moment:

2

Rike Concert Hall is probably the uggliest modern building in the city, however, it looks great as an abstract close-up:

3

Holiday Inn. Like if it was drawn in pencil, beautifully drawn:

4

A window of a simple two-floor house, build in the XX century, but the light and shadow make the image lively, summerly:

5

Another building of this kind but look at the bottom - this stonework can be twice or thrice older than the house itself. If I were the owner, I would search ancient artifacts in the underground and yard. There is a chance to find. Avlabari district has been existed for more than a thousand years, anything is possible:

6

Abandoned house for demolition. The door was open, nobody was near, I entered and went up flimsy wooden staircase; the feeling was that any part of the building could fall off at any moment, for example, on my head. I found no abandoned dolls 😀 or handwritten diaries in rotten notebooks and I quickly left the sad house:

A building that will disappear soon

7

Balconies, windows, wires of a human anthill. This street shines with sunlight every clear day before the sunset, I love this place:

8

Pensive saint in the window opening inside a church. This could be the guy the church dedicated to, David, a winner of Goliath, wise king, known as author of Psalms as well:

9

Compound windows, typical for old Tbilisi, lit with the bright sunshine with the autumnal Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) in the foreground:

Probably, the restored historical building (or imitation?), a view from Church of David the Psalmist

10

In summer, Virginia creeper creates a canvas of lush foliage. In autumn, it turns red. But it's even more beautiful when the leaves fall. The building looks like it's wearing a wool sweater:

Beside Metekhi Church on Metekhi Street, maps don't reveal what building it is

I took these images with a full-frame DSLR Nikon D750 in October-November 2022 in Tbilisi, Georgia

Thank you @neuerko, glad you like the post.

Great choices. Wonderful pictures

🤩🤩🤩🤩

Thank you @azamsohrabi! 🙂

I recognized the windows on the first picture. That balcony is close to my friend's house, used to pass by it almost every day

Yes, quite distinguished balcony so, as a person from Avlabar, you are supposed to know it. Do you recognize this building on the last photo? It's next to the upper entrance (from Metekhi Street) to Metekhi Church territory. No info about it on maps (google, wikimapia, openstreets - nothing). Probably, the building is used by the staff of the church...

Oh, it used to be a theater (at least in the 90-es). I used to know a girl who grew up in that building, it was also a home of a theater director named Sandro Mrevlishvili (she was his daughter). I think he probably owned that theater.

I think this could be a cool sound track to this post 😎

I only know words ara and mskhali :D What is the song about?

It is about a peach hanging on a branch and worrying about its future, because it knows it will fall down one day and will apparently turn into a "chiri" - dried peach. The translation sounds ridiculously stupid, but the song is nice)) sadly funny and nice
