Thought I would take a day off from our #kingdomproverbs posts to go over my plan going into 2026 when it comes to reading through the bible.
I actually got through the entire bible twice in 2025, which is a pretty cool accomplishment. I heard a story of an older gentleman that has read through scripture like 300 times or something. And that inspired me to keep my nose in front of the Word as much as I can for as long as God keeps me on this earth.
And these past read throughs, really opened things up for me. I do my daily devotions and do book specific studies, for deep diving. But the read throughs for me, I found that I picked up things multiple times I thought I 'knew' but didn't until I read through the bible again.
So in 2026, I plan on going through it twice again.....
And here's how I'll do it, and that's one time hopefully with you!
As you know, a few years ago along with @waytruthlife13 , we created The Kingdom Bible community here on chain. And it's been a pretty cool adventure with this group. So far, the group has read through Scripture 3 times now and 2026 will be our fourth walk through the bible. Wow!!!
So we've set up a new reading plan which is the modified M'Cheyne Bible reading plan for 2026. It's old testament, new testament verses, every day for the entire year. 3 or 4 chapters a day which is quite manageable. So if you'd like to join us here's how:
Join the Kingdom Bible community Discord and chat with us!
Join the YouVersion M'Cheyne plan and read long with us!
That's my community read through for 2026....But what about my own run through?
There's a content creator I follow on YouTube who is doing an entire read through with his community as well. Combined with daily podcasts, and emphasis on journaling through Scripture and a game plan that he's developed. I'm going to give that a shot and see how it goes. However, if he starts going off on some crazy doctrine, I'll just find another one on YouVersion and keep going with that one.
What about my bible of choice for this year?
So this is going to be different for me.....
I'm traditionally a reader of the King James Version. It's been my go to translation since I first dove into fiath over a decade ago. I guess you can call it my comfort zone. But this upcoming year, I wanted to switch things up...Kinda.
Here's the bible I'll be reading through in the New King James Version. I actually did a review of it a few months back.
I'm a huge fan of Thomas Nelson's Sovereign collection, and this is the NKJV edition I have of it. It's a real nice layout and fantastic genuine leather cover, so it'll draw me into reading more.
Again, this is a change for me so while I'm still in the textus receptus manuscripts, I'm going for a more modern version. We'll see how that goes.....
Anyways, that's the plan, God willing, for 2026. Another amazing 365 days with our God!

Wow twice in a year! God bless your plans! I still haven't finished my first re-read of the Bible (after so many years). 😆 I dunno what it is with Bibles and Catholics, we really need to step up our game. 😂 Am not even curious to go thru the Bible in a Year podcast. Maybe one day I'll check on it. Anyway keep posting stuff like this because it's inspiring. 👍
Thanks for the comments :)
I think there is the NRSV translation which the Catholic church seems to gravitate to. And the ESV which is more mainstream.
Yes!!!! More reading Scripture :)
Yeah sometimes I use those versions online but I mainly read the Bible I got which I told you abt w/c has commentaries. I am now at the Book of Numbers! Oh boy. 😆 Reading thru Genesis to where I am now it's like I'm learning how to be Jewish. Haha.
lol It can be rough....Those books in the Pentateuch can drag on. But there is beauty in them for sure, just need to dig. Christ is there :)
Yeah I am finally understanding some of the whats and whys of the Jewish customs and such in the New Testament.
It can be a real adventure to find the types in the old testament and then see the anti-types in the new. Christ is literally everywhere in the OT.
Happy to hear you are diving in :)
In the Philippines you can be arrested and voncited, even if you are innocent: [Philippines: the islands of evil] Altar of Secrets Sex, Politics, and Money in the Philippine Catholic Church #1/93
Yeah the Catholic church persecuting people is not new :(
Sometimes a fresh perspective can lead to even greater understanding.
That's my thinking. Just a different angle, but same manuscripts.
