Early in the morning at the port.

Hello everyone dear friends and welcome back to my blog.

Today I share with you my latest watercolor painting which has as its subject a port imagined in the first light of the sun.

Usually we painters tend to represent a sea landscape, for example the port, enhancing the beauty of the boats or the reflections of the sea.

So I decided to highlight the roughest aspect of the port, the boats in storage or under repair.

I painted a not too refined subject, where beauty is replaced by the technical aspects of hard work in the shipyard.

What I wanted to highlight is the bright morning light coming from the right with the long morning shadows.

I divided the composition into two large areas, one bright, with warm colors, cadmium yellow, lemon yellow, ocher yellow, the other in the shade, darker with purple and blue colors.

The range of browns and burnt sienna are used to balance warm color tones with cold ones.

Di buon mattino al porto.

Ciao a tutti cari amici e ben tornati sul mio blog.

Oggi condivido con voi il mio ultimo dipinto ad acquarello che ha come soggetto un porto immaginato alle prime luci del sole. Di solito noi pittori tendiamo a rappresentare un paesaggio di mare, ad esempio il porto esaltando la bellezza delle barche o dei riflessi del mare.

Così ho deciso di evidenziare l'aspetto più grezzo del porto, le barche in rimessaggio o in riparazione.

Ho dipinto un soggetto non troppo raffinato, dove la bellezza viene sostituita dagli aspetti tecnici del duro lavoro nel cantiere navale. Ciò che mi premeva mettere in evidenza è la luce chiara del mattino proveniente da destra con le ombre lunghe del mattino.

Ho diviso la composizione in due grandi zone, una luminosa, con colori caldi, giallo di cadmio, giallo limone, giallo ocra, l'altra in ombra, più scura con colori violacei e blu. La gamma dei marroni e terra di siena bruciata servono per bilanciare i toni cromatici caldi con quelli freddi.
